Your adventure begins with a 30-minute flight from Quito to Francisco de Orellana Airport (Coca). Upon arrival, our local team will welcome you and accompany you on a short transfer by road to the Napo River pier.
From here, embark on an approximately three-hour motorized canoe journey along the Napo River, one of the largest tributaries of the Amazon River in Ecuador.
During the journey, enjoy your first encounter with the Amazonian ecosystem. Observe traditional riverside communities, local crops, native fruits, giant Kapok trees, impressive fig trees, and river islands surrounded by lush vegetation. Keep an eye out for herons, egrets, vultures, and other tropical bird species while enjoying your packed lunch.
Upon reaching Challwacocha Creek, take a short walk before boarding traditional paddle canoes to navigate through a beautiful flooded primary forest with dark, tea-colored waters. Along the way, you may encounter black-mantled tamarin monkeys and other fascinating wildlife.
Upon arrival at the lodge, enjoy a refreshing welcome cocktail and snacks, followed by an introduction to the lodge, its facilities, and the activities planned for your stay.
In the afternoon, explore the surrounding rainforest through a guided nature walk or a peaceful canoe excursion. Discover the extraordinary Amazonian flora, including giant Kapok trees, cedar, orchids, bromeliads, and palms, while searching for monkeys, endemic birds, and other wildlife.
After dinner, join your naturalist and local guides for an exciting nighttime canoe excursion in search of the endangered black caiman, which can grow up to six meters in length.
Wake up early and get ready for an extraordinary day exploring the Amazon rainforest from different perspectives.
After breakfast, take a paddle canoe across the lagoon, where you can observe the first signs of wildlife awakening. Watch colorful parrots and macaws flying through the forest in search of food, while listening to the fascinating sounds of the rainforest.
Continue through a narrow water channel surrounded by elephant-ear plants and freshwater mangroves. This unique ecosystem is home to howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys, kingfishers, herons, woodpeckers, and many other bird species.
After reaching the mainland, enjoy a short walk through the terra firme forest until you arrive at an impressive 36-meter (118-foot) observation tower built around a giant Kapok tree.
From the top, admire the spectacular Amazonian canopy and enjoy exceptional opportunities for wildlife observation and photography. Look for toucans, macaws, parrots, tanagers, cotingas, monkeys, and sloths moving through the treetops.
After descending from the tower, return to the canoe for a traditional Amazonian piranha fishing experience.
Return to the lodge for lunch and enjoy some free time to relax. You can watch wildlife from the three-story dock overlooking the forest, enjoy a refreshing drink at the bar, or unwind in a hammock while appreciating the peaceful surroundings.
In the afternoon, join a guided walk through the primary rainforest. Discover ancient trees, medicinal plants, orchids, lianas, bromeliads, and other fascinating species while learning about the ecological relationships that sustain this extraordinary ecosystem.
After dinner, experience the mysterious side of the Amazon with a guided nighttime rainforest walk. Listen to the sounds of bats, frogs, and crickets while searching for insects, tarantulas, tree frogs, and, with some luck, snakes, armadillos, and night monkeys.
After breakfast, return to the Napo River by motorized canoe and travel towards the famous Parrot Clay Lick, located in the Yasuní National Park region.
This natural clay wall attracts different species of parrots and parakeets, which gather to consume mineral-rich clay as part of their natural digestive process. With some luck, you may observe Mealy Amazons, Blue-headed Parrots, Yellow-crowned Parrots, Dusky-headed Parakeets, and White-eyed Parakeets.
Continue your adventure with a guided hike through the extraordinary rainforest landscapes of Yasuní. Discover centuries-old trees, medicinal plants, and the incredible biodiversity of this region. Keep your eyes open for monkeys, colorful birds, animal tracks, and other signs of wildlife, including possible traces of jaguars and pumas.
Later, leave the national park area and travel to the Sani Isla Community Center, where you will meet members of the Sani Warmi women's organization.
Discover the ancestral traditions of the Amazonian Kichwa culture through an authentic cultural experience. Learn about traditional medicinal plants, local customs, and sustainable ways of living in harmony with the rainforest.
Participate in an interactive Amazonian cooking class, where local women will guide you in preparing your own lunch using traditional ingredients and regional culinary techniques.
You will also have the opportunity to support the local community by purchasing handmade crafts created by local women using natural fibers and forest materials.
After this enriching cultural experience, return to the lodge and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the Amazon rainforest. Relax at the bar or on the dock while watching the beautiful colors of the Amazonian sunset.
Wake up early and enjoy your final moments in the Amazon rainforest.
Take a peaceful canoe ride through Challwacocha Creek as the first rays of sunlight illuminate the surrounding forest. Enjoy the sounds of birds and the possibility of spotting wildlife along the water.
After this memorable final experience, board the motorized canoe and travel along the Napo River towards Coca.
Upon arrival, transfer to Francisco de Orellana Airport in time for your scheduled flight back to Quito.
Take home unforgettable memories of the Amazon's incredible wildlife, landscapes, and cultural heritage.
