Departing American Tours at 6:00am, we will travel to AMARILLO today with lunch along the way Wichita Falls. Along with our stretch breaks, we will arrive in Amarillo in time to freshen up a bit before dinner at the hotel. We will travel through the Panhandle of Texas today, journeying into New Mexico where we will enjoy lunch in Raton, New Mexico. This afternoon, we will begin seeing the beautiful Rocky Mountains as we travel on to CHEYENNE, WYOMING for the night! We will be setting our clocks back hour today!

Cheyenne to Jackson Hole (WY)

Our journey today will be across the beautiful state of WYOMING! Watch for wildlife and enjoy the beautiful scenery as we travel through the mountains! This is truly a vast open space! We will enjoy lunch in Rock Springs, Wyoming before continuing our journey into JACKSON HOLE!  This is a beautiful drive over the mountains, into the valleys to Jackson! Again, watch for wildlife! We will arrive in time to freshen up a bit before heading to enjoy dinner with BAR T-5 CHUCKWAGON COOKOUT & SHOW. Traveling by horse-drawn covered wagon, this three-hour evening dinner and show will take us away into beautiful Cache Creek Canyon. We will enjoy a full evening of great entertainment, western hospitality, and a dinner that will tantalize your taste buds.

 Jackson Hole to LOWER LOOP to West Yellowstone

Today is the day! We are going to pray for a clear day, as we travel to the South Entrance of YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK. Hopefully, you will see the most fabulous mountains, the GRAND TETONS! Keep that camera ready for not only spectacular mountains, but wildlife too! After a brief stop at FLAGG RANCH, we will make our way into YELLOWSTONE! We will tour the LOWER LOOP today, as our guide tells us how this beautiful park was found! We will end the tour today in Gardiner, WY where we will spend two nights. We will enjoy dinner that night at a restaurant of your choice close to the hotel.

West Yellowstone to UPPER LOOP to West Yellowstone

We must say goodbye to YELLOWSTONE today as we travel out of WYOMING, up into MONTANA, and then back through more of WYOMING where the scenery is absolutely beautiful! Who knows what the day will hold!  We will see many beautiful sights as we make our way towards our next day’s adventure! Tonight, you will be free to enjoy one of the restaurants near our hotel.

Gillette to Rapid City (SD)

Throughout our day, we will catch glimpses of four famous faces off in the distance. However, before we get there to view them up close, we will first stop by CRAZY HORSE MEMORIAL. This unbelievable carving in the side of the mountain will be completed in the next 15 years. After lunch, we head straight for MT. RUSHMORE!  This massive sculpture, carved into Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills region of South Dakota, was completed in 1941. This amazing work of art, roughly 60-ft.-high, depict U.S. presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.

Rapid City to North Platte (NE)

Today, we will travel out of SOUTH DAKOTA and into NEBRASKA. With leg stretches and lunch along the way, we will arrive in NORTH PLATTE in time to freshen up before setting out for our GOLDEN SPIKE TOUR & DINNER. Imagin a view that can only be seen from 104 feet in the air. Take a short elevator ride to the top observation deck for a view that can only be seen from the top of the Golden Spike Tower. Watch how Union Pacific crews “Keep American Moving”, and learn what it takes to classify nearly 13,000 rail cars a day.

North Platte to St. Joseph (MO)

Before departing North Platte, we have one more stop. This morning, we will learn the history the NORTH PLATTE CANTEEN. Over breakfast, we will learn how North Platte served almost seven million soldiers on their wat to fight in World War II. After this short history lesson, we make our way to the KEARNEY ARCHWAY for a box lunch and a brief tour.  This historical experience tells the story of Nebraska and the Platte River Valley in the development of America. We then make our way south into ST JOSEPH, MO for the evening.

 Oklahoma City to Tyler (TX)

This morning, we make a brief stop at the OKLAHOMA CITY MEMORIAL & MUSEUM. We will arrive before it opens to give you ample time to walk around the Memorial Grounds. Once opened, you will be able to spend time touring the museum before we depart out for NORTHEAST TEXAS. As they say … All good things must come to an end! We will enjoy lunch and rest stops along the way. Planning to arrive in TYLER around 5:00pm, we will take time to talk about all the beautiful things we have seen on this wonderful trip, exchange addresses and phone numbers with our new found friends, and make plans to take future trips with AMERICAN TOURS.
