Yin exists by virtue of yang, yang exists by virtue of yin. They balance each other. In Chinese Medicine, winter represents the element of water, the energetics of storage, and peak Yin time of the year. To harmonize with winter, it is recommended to slow down and get into a Yin state.
This Yin Training will inspire you to reconnect to the practice of “doing less to get more.” Whether you are a new yoga teacher, an avid practitioner, recovering from an injury, or going through any major life transition we will all tap into the practice of slowing down, observing and inhabiting the body.
This training is designed for teachers and yoga practitioners of all levels who want to deepen their connection to their body, expand their understanding of embodiment, and realign with the energy of the season. This training will provide a safe container for us to explore the shapes and inhabit our physical body in a slower, and gentler way. Teachers will learn how to offer yin practices to their students in a safe and restorative way.
Francesca will begin with a lecture on her approach to teaching yin yoga, theory and anatomical alignment/adjustments, and lead students through a yin yoga class with optional hands-on adjustments.
Yin yoga is a form of passive stretching that applies gentle, healthy stress to the joints and connective tissues. We could say that Yin yoga is an embodiment practice because great care is given to observing the sensations one experiences, emphasizing the mild end of the sensation spectrum—not pushing, pulling, or striving to go deeper, rather just being in the shape.
This training is designed for teachers and yoga practitioners of all levels.
