Enjoy a weekend of harmony and bliss amongst the redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains in Soquel, California. Take part in daily all levels yoga and meditation, feast on mouthwatering vegetarian meals, stay in lovely accommodations, and explore the peaceful surrounding lands. Experience a healing sound bath on Saturday evening. Land of Medicine Buddha is a true gem just outside of Santa Cruz.


During free times, detox in the sauna, go on a hike, or receive a soothing massage at the Lotus Spa. Seacliff State Beach and Brighton State Beach are just about 15 minutes away by car.


Classes are led by dedicated and experienced teacher, Christie Pitko, E-RYT 500. Christie hosts 5 yoga retreats per year in California and abroad. Find out more about her teachings here

Friday

Arrival - 2:00-4:00pm **Please note that rooms are not ready until closer to 4:00pm, but aim to arrive early. You can enjoy tea and cookies and explore the grounds. Give yourself PLENTY of time for traffic on a Friday.

Mini Yoga Session  - 4:45-5:40pm

LMB Welcome Talk - 5:45pm

Dinner - 6:00pm

Welcome Meditation and Group Connection - 7:15-8:15pm


Saturday

Breakfast - 8:00am

Meditation and Therapeutic Yoga - 9:30-11:00am

Free Time - hike, sauna, massage

Things to Know

*All levels of practitioners are encouraged to attend, including beginners, but we recommend that you have some yoga experience. Please know basic yoga poses.


*We welcome yoga students who are 18 years of age and above.


*Please note that there are no refunds after September 2nd, 2019. We will try to get your space covered, but this is not guaranteed.


*No alcohol or meat is permitted at our venue.


*Cell phones will not work at Land of Medicine Buddha unless you have Verizon. There is a pay phone, as well as WiFi in the dining room.

    The nearest airport is San Jose (about an hour away). You can also fly into San Francisco (about 90 minutes) or Oakland (about 2 hours). We recommend you rent a car to drive to the venue.
  • Yoga mat and blanket
    Please bring your own yoga mat and blanket for practice. Other props will be provided by instructor.
  • Massage at the Lotus Spa
    Please book a massage a week before the retreat begins at 831-462-8383.

Christie Pitko, E RYT-500, began practicing yoga in 2001, and since then, it has healed her spirit, ignited creativity, and encouraged her to take her time. She enjoys helping students stay curious about the inner landscape of their bodies and minds through yoga and meditation. Christie is grateful for all that she has learned from her teachers, Annie Carpenter, Richard Rosen, Judith Lasater, and Leah Gillman. Christie hosts 4-5 yoga retreats per year.

I met great people on this trip, I felt at home and welcomed The Yoga was inspiring and exactly what I needed from the trip. I loved the location and the food was amazing.
The semi-rustic airs of Sierra Hot Springs, mixed with Christie Pitko's Yoga, made for a fabulous retreat. Plus the people who attend are just lovely human beings. Get off your hamster wheel and go to Christie Pitko's Retreat in the high Sierra mountains beside one of the largest valley's in the western United States. Populated mainly by cattle and surrounded by mountains. Take a hike or soak your bones in healing waters in the forest. Have a massage or loll with a good book in a body hugging couch beside a fire. The food is wonderful and locally sourced, cooked fresh every day. (desserts are scrummy!) And the yoga and meditation are catered for any level, making you feel super awesome afterwards. Thanks so much. I'll be back!
Had an awesome time in Sayulita with Christie and the group!
This was my first yoga retreat and the bar was set high! It truly was a magical time...the hotel was superb and very clean with great friendly service. The daily vegetarian breakfast was amazing...something for everyone. Christie added a lot of nice touches. She's a highly skilled yoga teacher and was able to teach to many levels from beginner to more advanced with clear alignment based instruction. I like the combination of vinyasa/restorative styles of yoga as well as yoga nidra and meditation. I highly recommend this retreat to everyone!
I had a great time. The hotel was wonderful- I loved the city. The yoga instruction was expert and fun!
