Meet Your Host Peter Goodman

Students say I have a playful and generous spirit. I believe yoga is a path of delight and I love teaching it.

For 25 years yoga has been my life as a student, practitioner, and a teacher. I had the great honor of traveling the world to study with many great yogis, as well  as, teach workshops and trainings.

I offer students my sincerest and most authentic experiences, so they can have the space to safely experience their own feeling of stability, freedom, and integrity.  I teach with physical alignment, but I never forget the joy-filled love of life. I think that is the highest teaching life offers!

I teach worldwide, offer private instruction, as well as, group trainings for teachers and more serious students. Concurrently, I serve as a guide and mentor to  many along the way seeking my life earned wisdom and support as they go through major life changes.

Meet Your Host Mitchel Bleier

I started yoga when I was 18‭, ‬at a time when yoga was not popular‭, ‬especially  for eighteen-year-old boys‭. ‬After finishing my first shavasana‭, ‬and my puddle of sweat finally absorbed‭, ‬I felt like I had just found home‭. ‬Yoga was the first thing that made sense in my life‭. ‬I wasted no time‭. ‬I got my first book on yoga and memorized  every pose and Sanskrit names and even their meanings‭. ‬I took my first teacher training and started teaching at 19‭. ‬I went on to mentor with some of the most preeminent American yoga pioneers and Indian teachers‭, ‬as well as‭, ‬studying SouthAsian religions  and Sanskrit at the University of Rochester‭. ‬I began‭ ‬teaching International workshops‭, ‬retreats‭, ‬and teacher trainings in 2001‭. ‬

Teaching yoga has been my only‭ ‬“job”‭ ‬as an adult‭. ‬My entire adult  life has been shaped by yoga‭: ‬the practice‭, ‬the community‭, ‬the conversations‭, ‬and the business‭. ‬I‭ ‬have owned and created yoga studios‭, ‬a yoga magazine‭, ‬a yoga video production company‭, ‬and an online corporate wellness program‭.‬‭ ‬Through  these two plus decades‭, ‬I have never stopped learning‭. ‬My many mistakes have been my greatest teachers‭. ‬My family‭, ‬wife‭, ‬and kids teach me about yoga as the relationship with the world‭. ‬I am beyond grateful for my journey and the people‭.‬

About Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres is a small island located only 8 miles off the eastern shore of Cancun. This picturesque Caribbean Island moves at an idyllic pace compared with Cancun, which you will feel crossing the bay. This makes the location ideal for inexpensive flights into Cancún International Airport and a short 20-minute ferry ride from Puerto Juarez.

With the Gulf of Mexico on one side and the Caribbean Sea on the other, it's no wonder that Isla Mujeres is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. You'll think you've found paradise as you enjoy the balmy temperatures and relax on completely on the island's silky white sand next to the deep turquoise and blue waters.

At just over 4 miles long and only around 1/2 a mile wide, it’s a tiny Mexican outpost with a Caribbean flavor and a special place in Mayan history. Spanish for "Island of the Women", Isla Mujeres was so named because of the presence of female stone idols found in temples on the island when Conqueror Francisco Hernández de Cordoba arrived in 1517.

At the southern tip of the Island and the easternmost edge of Mexico lies Punta Sur, where the sun first greets the country each morning. These windswept cliffs are also the highest elevation on the Yucatán Peninsula. Here you will be surrounded by the remains of the ancient Mayan temple honoring Ixchel, the goddess of childbirth and medicine. Taking its cue from the temple, the Punta Sur Sculpture Garden was created in 2001, and artworks by both Mexican and international artists, created to reflect the great civilization of the past, are scattered across the bluff, making for majestic Insta-worthy views. On Tuesday we will venture here as a group for an awe-inspiring sunrise meditation.

Not far from the hotel, on the western coast of the island, you’ll find La Tortugranja, a turtle sanctuary that will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. The eco-warriors at the sanctuary have been protecting these marvelous marine critters for the past 15 years. There are six different species of turtle that nest on the island, and to protect a population threatened by fishermen who found egg-laying mothers easy pray, they surround turtle nests with wire cages and use their conservation facility to rear and release thousands of hatchlings each year. You can take a one-hour guided tour of the facility to learn more about its work, and there’s a small aquarium on site too, with seahorses, lobsters, crabs and plenty of colorful tropical fish to gawp at. You will have access to golf carts and plenty of free time to adventure and explore the sanctuary, among other Isla Mujeres attractions.

On Monday, you will have an opportunity to jump right in with the local sea life, as well as a few less likely citizens of the deep, Isla Mujeres offers an experience that’s an inspired mingling of culture and nature. The Museo Subacuatico de Arte (MUSA) is one of the largest underwater art attractions in the world and a scuba/snorkel experience unlike any you’ve encountered before. MUSA was conceived and founded in 2009 and is today made up of over 500 permanent sculptures including people, cars and underwater angels, spread across more than 4,500 square feet of the seabed. Built to demonstrate the interaction between art and environmental science, these sculptures now form part of a complex reef structure for marine life to colonize and inhabit and are slowly being claimed by coral, seaweed, and fish. At 8-10 feet deep, this is a perfect dive for beginners, and within reach of those with a snorkel and a large lung capacity.

With some of the friendliest locals in the Mexican Caribbean.  Isla’s diversity, from the fisherman, artists and musicians to divers, chefs and ex-pats, make up a community unlike any other. You'll have a chance to experience the easygoing charm of the people, mouth-watering Mexican cuisine, and local shops as you explore this most picturesque and peaceful paradise.

It was truly restorative. The accommodations incredible. The people so friendly. The chef fed my soul and stomach. The yoga Shala was a perfect space. I want to return immediately!
The trip was great the waiting for the ferry seemed longer than it should be since there was more than one boat available. It was unexpected the amount of bugs that were bitting all day. The use of bug spray pretty much all day to try and keep them away was not pleasant. I am highly susceptible to bites and it made it uncomfortable and sort of kept me from others who were getting bit but not as much. The facility was great but away from the opportunity to take a walk or be out side of the resort at all. The staff at the resort were wonderful and accommodating especially the chef!!!! His meals were exceptional to say the least. Just a few things to consider should I decide to do it again.
What a pleasure it was to spend a week at Casa Cielo, next door to Coco B Wellness. The home is furnished with all the essentials you'll need during your stay. The pantry is stocked with more than enough spices and paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo and conditioner are also provided. (I mention this because not all homes provide these things.) The kitchen / living room combo is the main gathering area and it is decorated so tastefully. There's two comfortable couches, a chair and plenty of bar stools around the kitchen island, but you won't want to spend much time indoors. Right off of the living room is the patio and pool and it's a very relaxing, tranquil space. We spent our mornings there, until we headed down to the large, overstuffed bean bag style chairs by the ocean to soak up the afternoon sun and stare at the ocean. There's paddle boards available to guests, if you're feeling adventurous. The bedrooms are all a good size, the individual air conditioners work excellent and the bedding is extremely comfortable. Getting a good night's rest was never a problem. Lisa and Emma were always just a text away. Or, you can just walk between the two homes and you'll no doubt find someone willing to help you with anything you may want or need. I would definitely recommend renting this private villa in Isla Mujeres and hope to return someday.
Overall, good trip! Casa Coco was very pretty. Some water pressure issues and power outages due to the storms. The food got better throughout the week although we often said how it would have been nice to be able to order guac or a snack during the day with more substance than fruit & nuts. Meal times always had good yummy meals!
What a wonderful trip-great people, great teachers, and great property. Thanks so much! Will definitely be back next year!
