Theme of our retreat
Slow down, lean in and allow the wisdom of nature to enlighten you during our annual yoga + hiking retreat.
This retreat is led by Yoga Azores co-founders Mandy Brinkley and Rimi Chakraborty, and draws upon a broad range of practices including daily asana, pranayama, mudra, mantra, meditation and reflection. You will enjoy plenty of nourishing time outdoors with practices to help you authentically and deeply connect with the support of nature all around.
This retreat includes all the planning, detail, meals and excursions except for two lunches on free days so you can focus on being present and allow yourself to be guided and reflect within.
This retreat takes place during Halloween, which has roots in Samhain, a sacred fire festival, that marks the beginning of the winter season. To 'hallow' is to make holy, to hold sacred. In this age of speed, over information and extremes it is easy to lose connection with the sacredness of daily life. The seasonal shift of Samhain is a potent time to remind us of this sacredness and to lean into listening and the wisdom of nature. It is a time of reflection, release and intention - to remember what has passed and to be aware of how we are moving forth.
Intentional Sustainable Lodging
Our home away from home will be quinta minuvida, which offers intentional, sustainable accommodation. Step beyond the indulgences of traditional lodging and experience the Azores as a treasure to cherish and protect. The lodge features five thoughtful suites, outdoor pool, yoga studio, guest kitchen, living room with fireplace, outdoor grill, firepit, observatory, organic vegetable garden, and one acre of orchards. We are centrally located, only 15 minutes from the airport and about 30 minutes from most attractions. We are close to beaches, walking trails, hotsprings and bike paths, not to mention the largest fishing port in the Azores. An added bonus is spending time with very special and friendly residents - the animals of the quinta including Eskimo, Biscoito and Moo!
Discovering the Island
Our week will include opportunities for deep connection with the senses in nature. Discover some of the most pristine corners of the island during our hikes and excursions. Breathe and feel the breeze on your skin, smell the mineral-rich soil, step on the black sand beaches and verdant green hillsides and taste the ocean air. You'll also have free time for your own exploration or to simply relax.
