What is TRE?


TRE stands for Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises


TRE is a simple technique that uses exercises to release stress or tension from the body that accumulate from every day circumstances of life, from difficult situations, immediate or prolonged stressful situations, or traumatic life experiences (i.e., natural disasters, social or domestic violence).


TRE is a set of six exercises that help to release deep tension from the body by evoking a self-controlled muscular shaking process in the body called neurogenic muscle tremors. The uniqueness of this technique is that this shaking originates deep in the core of the body of the psoas muscles. These gentle tremors reverberate outwards along the spine releasing tension from the sacrum to the cranium.


The exercises are a simple form of stretching and are used to gently trigger these voluntary muscle tremors.


Once the technique is learned and mastered after several sessions, the warm-up exercises can be accelerated or replaced with your normal exercise activity like walking or yoga, and the technique then becomes a quick and effective method for consistent relaxation. Eventually, these tremors will evoke themselves naturally in a rest position to reduce any stress or tension that was accumulated over the course of the day.


TRE is being used by thousands of people around the world as an effective tool for releasing chronic traumatic stress, physical tension and emotional trauma. It is also quickly becoming a popular way to release the everyday stress, tension, and anxiety that evolves comes from the daily pressures of life.

AVIVA LEVINE, E-RYT 200 ERYT, TRE® PROVIDER Trained as a Forrest Yoga teacher under Ana Forrest, Aviva is fascinated with the body’s ability to transform. She is inspired to help others experience this evolution within themselves. She promotes a deeper connection with the body through modalities including Yoga, Pilates and TRE. With compassion, curiosity and humor; she creates a sweet space to move from struggle and limitation, towards integration of body and mind. Finding comfort in movement, Aviva studied; ballet, jazz, modern dance and played competitive ultimate frisbee. After a lifetime of physical activity, multiple injuries led her to Forrest Yoga. During a TRE workshop she found that TRE complimented the deep transformative qualities of her personal practice and teaching. Her group classes and private lessons are an offering of the incredible benefits of simple techniques to heal; chronic pain, physical and emotional trauma, and injuries.

What a WONDERFUL yoga retreat! Still swooning, days later. The staff at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn (where I hadn't been!) was delightful. Very welcoming and accommodating, from the valet to the spa. I visit the Napa Valley often but typically stay at the Westin or the Lodge at Sonoma. I've already told the husband we're definitely staying at the Fairmont our next trip up! And the YOGA on this retreat! Perfection. Challenging, but not overly so, truly it was perfect. I hope to see Breathe In Love Retreats scheduling again at the Fairmont. Just book me now! :)

This was an amazing experience all around! This was a trip of many firsts - 1st yoga retreat, 1st time in Barbados, 1st time surfing, 1st time pulling cards from Alana Fairchild's oracle decks, and many more! The location was absolutely beautiful. I opted for the sea view room which was an added plus. Daily yoga with the powerful sounds of the ocean and sunset views. Delicious fresh food prepared daily by a private chef. I highly recommend this trip! It goes by quickly but I felt there was adequate time to reflect and enjoy the island and accommodations. Aviva is an absolute gem. While the trip felt surreal on many levels, I was filled with immense gratitude that I was able to participate and experience this retreat curated by Aviva & Breathe In Love. Aviva's attention to detail, intentionality, instruction+teaching, compassion, awareness, creativity, awareness, encouragement, and generous spirit are unparalleled. She put me at ease while also challenging me to grow, self-discover, and safely move through discomfort. I didn't know any of the other participants, but I was able to meet some wonderful people throughout the retreat and trip overall. Thank you!
