Ready to slow down and savor la dolce vita? This bucket list trip is about relishing every bite, every squat, and every sip of Barolo.
The 2024 Yogi Sadie & Chef Alice Italy Retreat is heading to the foothills of the Alps in the northern Piedmont region. Known for truffles, hazelnuts, and Nebbiolos, this is the birthplace of the Slow Food movement.
This retreat combines the talents of two friends for over 30 years: Sadie Chanlett-Avery, the yogi, and Alice Delcourt, the chef. Unlike other retreats, ours is created with a unique recipe. It feeds you with personalized yoga and moves you with delicious food. And the experience would not be complete without wine! Danilo, our sommelier and wine educator, handpicks outstanding local wines for the tastings and meal pairings.
Each day starts with a yoga practice to dissolve stress and open us to adventure. Over coffee and a hearty breakfast, we review the plan for the day: a hiking excursion to a mountain lake, a private tasting at a local winery, or a pasta making class. We explore quaint nearby hamlets and visit local food purveyors. Every evening we unwind the hips, shoulders, and neck in a restorative yoga class. During the evening aperitivo (happy hour) we taste wines and learn about the region's viniculture. Every meal celebrates local ingredients, draws on Italian traditions, and delights with innovative flavors.
Our home for the week is a five-star, lovingly-maintained, 17th-century estate. The rooms are appointed with antiques from around the world and the private grounds border the Cervo River, fed by melting alpine snow. During afternoon downtime you can walk around the gardens, read a novel on a cozy window seat, or play in the billiards room.
