PRO: I thoroughly enjoyed this trip. I was especially impressed with the tour guide. He was open, approachable, knowledgeable. I especially enjoyed the history lessons about the areas we visited. The small group, gave me the opportunity to get to know the other participants. Having several nights at one lodging allowed us to get to explore the city/town we were visiting. I would like to be able to spend more time with some of the smaller crofters. I feel there was a lot of activity packed into each day. Spending 3 mornings in classes with Di and Shelia was relaxing, and comfortable. I would like to have spent more time with the independent crofters. I wish we could have spent more time with Jane Cooper ( even though there was no toilet available, I would have happily gone out behind the barn!). She brought her book to life for me. I am so impressed by the island’s commitment to the Boraray sheep, the environment and using what the land brings to them. Likewise, I really enjoyed our stop at Hoxa Gallery, the Woolshed, annd Hillary Grant’s studio. Lastly, I appreciate stopping at the Italian Chapel. That stop was so meaningful for me.

Wonderful trip to Orkney! Great itinerary which featured really special studio visits to local fiber artists, along with hands-on workshops. Especially seeing old friends and making new ones on this trip. Already looking forward to 2027 and my next Battenkill Textile Tour.

This was an amazing and magical trip especially our stay in the Faroe Islands where we were welcomed with such warm hospitality! Battenkill Textile Tours aways puts together a marvelous itinerary for anyone interested in the textile arts and this trip was no exception. Great accommodations, interesting and knowledgeable group leaders, super workshops and wonderful food... everthing you could ask for in a tour.
