We were guided by Gerson and, simply put, exceptional. For the experience itself, we opted for both the private tour and private lodging package and it was fantastic. Gerson was attentive to my partner Lily whilst I inevitably fell behind in pace, he adapted seamlessly to ensure neither of us felt rushed or left behind. He struck that perfect balance of being professional, knowledgeable and genuinely good company throughout the hike. What stood out - Gerson's attitude. Nothing was a burden, no question was too much trouble, and he constantly checked in to make sure we were comfortable, safe and enjoying the experience. As someone who enjoys a challenge but underestimated the climb, having a guide who could read the situation and adapt accordingly made a huge difference. If you're considering Acatenango, I would strongly recommend the private tour option and requesting Gerson as your guide. Truly an unforgettable experience and easily a top life memory and highlight of our time in Guatemala. 10/10. Would absolutely do it again... although my legs may disagree.

The tour was fantastic. Our guide was very very friendly and knowledgeable. We really appreciated how professional and fun everything was. Also, the marshmallows at the top were fun! A nice little adventure with wonderful views!
