We had a great experience with Chero - booking was easy, quick, and thorough.  Communication was excellent.  Our driver and tour guide were very good, and the hike was beautiful.  Izalco is a shorter, but much more rigorous hike than Santa Ana.  I'm not sure I would list it as "easy" on the website; some places list it as "difficult."   But that said, my 12-year-old daughter and her friend were able to complete it with me.

Unlike Pompeii, no human remains were found, suggesting the villagers had just enough warning to escape. Today, this site offers a rare and intimate window into daily Maya life. You’ll walk among&nbsp;ancient homes, sleeping mats, crop fields, and even saunas, perfectly frozen in time. On day 4 we’ll return to the heart of the country to explore El Salvador’s Maya heritage. Our first stop is&nbsp;Joya de Cerén, the country’s most important archaeological site and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993. This ancient farming village was buried under the ashes of the Caldera Volcano around 600 A.D., earning it the nickname&nbsp;“Pompeii of the Americas.”Unlike Pompeii, no bodies were found; suggesting the inhabitants received a timely warning and fled. Thanks to its remarkable preservation, you’ll step into the everyday world of Mesoamerican farmers, where you can see their homes, sleeping areas, crop fields, and even ancient saunas, details that bring their daily lives to light in a way few places in the Maya World can.
