<h4>Tour Details:</h4>Your journey starts with a very scenic 6km/4mi jeep rd. drive in the Heights of Guanapo Rd. The actual gorges are well tucked away in a valley, with Lalaja to the north and Guanapo to the south. The accompanying water comes El Cerro Del Aripo, T&amp;Ts highest peak. During the dry season, with all the quarrying taking place in that area, be prepared for a dusty ride to your start point! THE APPROACH The approach to the Gorges starts on a wide open trail just after the first quarry. This segment is essentially a gradual incline into an eventual gradual descent. On this trail you will definitely hear the vocals of a variety of forest birds. Our team has had a Porcupine sighting on this segment; hopefully luck will also be on your side! The GORGES You will definitely be stomped in your tracks when you see the start of the Gorge traverse. From here your journey takes you through an absolute marvel of nature. The topography is essentially a magnificant v-shaped gorge reaching approximately 30m/100ft high in some sections and perhaps in excess of a kilometer /0.6mi in length. This feature is thousands of years old and deemed to be a result of the water's kinetic energy causing lateral river erosion. A lot of these rock faces have a colorful, polished look. This segment of wading through the gorges and swimming across its pools could take up to 40 minutes. From here you will follow the winding river back to your start point. N.B. : If Booking this activity, it is best to do so in the Dry Season as this water way has been know to go from very calm to very turbulent in a matter of minutes during the rains of our Rainy Season. Heading over to the sister isle Tobago is always a pleasure, especially if you include the Argyle Uncut River Exploration. Standing at 54m/177ft, the main waterfall at Argyle is arguably Tobago’s most prolific. It attracts locals and foreigners alike, to its cool, crisp water that flows down from what most believe to be three levels.. but are there more?! This 'uncut' edition of Argyle starts in the village of Roxborough. The initial 3 km/1.9 mi approach poses a steady and scenic incline along the Rain-forest Ridge Road. From here we enter the rain forest and embark on another 3 km/1.9 mi trek, until the thunderous sound of your first waterfall encounter is heard long before you see it. You are now essentially at the source of Argyle; your descent starts here! This expedition does cover a lot of ground, but the spectacular topography of this route and the excitement it provides, will make the time pass quickly. The terrain is quite technical and involves 5 rappelling segments; lots of rock hopping and lots of scrambling with the ultimate reward of soaking in the splendor of the Argyle Waterfall at the end. If you want to unleash the thrill seeker in you... this would certainly do it! This invigorating 26km/16mi urban loop will certainly be a test of fortitude for you and your crew!&nbsp;For this one we start in Maraval along La Seiva Rd, as we make our way to the lush views offered by the Paramin Hills.&nbsp; MEYAH RIVER Our first stop are the top basins of the Meyah River. At this point, a soak in her first pool will be nothing short of an absolute, just reward, for conquering this segment. This now puts you in the right gear for an exciting river traverse. It will involve a 2 rappels enroute to the delight of the Coffin Hole slide and the Blue Basin Waterfall. THE MORNE COCO or BUST We now make our way toward and over Morne Coco rd. This segment will definitly be a test! We will however, eventually get some well deserves recovery time, under the canopies of the La Seiva River, as we make our way back to the start point. FUN FACTS The Meyah River is the source of the Blue Basin Pools. Our traverse would take us through the old Cameron Valley cocoa estate. Under her dense canopy, we will get our fill of crags, gullies and cascades. Each of these topographic features are striking in their own right and offer ample opportunities to jump, scramble, climb and rappel.&nbsp; This waterway is quite significant to Diego Martin. During the 17th century, it served as the water supply for the sugar mills and rum distilleries of the area; this included the historical Water Wheel which was used to crush the sugar cane for these industries.&nbsp; After the abolition of slavery in 1834, many estates involved in the sugar industry collapsed and were eventually used as cocoa (research) estates. This accounts for the cocoa trees you will notice on the river banks as we traverse.&nbsp; N.B: If you do not have previous experience using rappelling / rock climbing gear and not familiar with the techniques used for this activity, you will be required to participate in the CoolBlue Adventures Rock Climbing/Rappelling Experience (see our listings), prior to embarking on this expedition.
