Fantastic experience of a lifetime. Honestly, I didn't have many expectations going in; I've been on retreat with Marla before, so I assumed it all would be legit as usual. I did think we'd have more downtime to meditate and be in circle as a group. I now understand this was a different style of retreat as a travel experience.
One of the things I will share that was actually quite perturbing is about the walking experience into the Riads with our luggage on the day of arrival, between residences, and on the departure date. That was tough on me, and I exercise daily. My 70-year-old mother was at her wits' end by the end. Proud of her for being a trooper! We haven't traveled together abroad since I was 14 years old.
Such a beautiful, fulfilling experience to be with SO many lovely humans. We witnessed so much in what now I feel was a short stint. Thank you for crafting an experience to move through the different regions, to eat delectable foods, and BE! Learning about the history of the land was my favorite part, oh, and the shopping! Carrying a carpet through the medina at night will forever be etched in my mind. Being enthralled by ALL the many faces of the continent is still calling me. I would love to return and stay in the desert longer. It truly felt like home! We could have stayed there an entire week! I cannot put into words what I experienced during the ceremony at the villa. That is also etched in my brain. I don't think I want to express it in words. I am still sitting with the cathartic expression of being able to scream and cry while hearing what I heard in the music.
Another thought is to include tips for staff/concierge/spa in the price point of the retreat or collect them all upfront. It felt a little awkward trying to calculate what to provide at each stop, then hand it over. Or leave it to the individuals to provide to the staff.
PLEASE aim for the fall of 2028 for the other regions! I have to get Marlee settled into college before I can attend anything else this majestic!
Thank you, Marla and Yasmina! Forever and eternally entwined in sisterhood. Love to you! Love to me! Love to us all!
