Two friends and I joined Indomito’s annual expedition, which was circumnavigation of San Jose Island. My friends and I found out we were the only first time clients, although we were typical – longtime kayakers in our 60s/70s. All but two were from Canada. Our guides were Diego and Antonio. Diego is now the co-owner of the company, and Antonio is a seasoned guide with a degree in marine biology. They worked together very well to ensure our safety and to prepare amazing meals morning, noon and night. There was an expectation on the trip that clients help with the cooking and cleanup, but it never felt onerous. (possibly because I forgot about it until day 4 and the guides were too polite to remind me😅).
The days never felt tiring to me, although April is pretty warm in Baja. We always finished paddling in time for a late lunch, so the afternoons were spent swimming, snorkelling and exploring. The scenery was excellent and we saw lots of wildlife including turtles, sea lions, manta rays and a humpback whale.
Each afternoon, Diego went spearfishing. So a bonus was fresh sashimi most days. Yum!
The booking process for the trip was straightforward with their office staffer Ceci always happy to answer questions by email. And we appreciated being able to pay in pesos rather than US dollars. I highly recommend Indomito!
