We wish we could give our tour a 10! We spent 3 days with Frederick (Fred) and one with Goncalo(G). Both are the perfect guides. You feel like you’ve made new friends. We saw Obidos, Porto, the Douro Valley, Lisbon and Sintra. This was a perfect, private tour!!! We could not have asked for more special days in Portugal. We felt totally safe. The recommendations for hotels, food and activities were awesome. We want to return and finish the southern half of Portugal. Definitely book with Host and communicate any specific questions that you have. Frederico’s communication in English were perfect and so valuable. Thank you so much!

My husband and I took 2 tours with The Host Experience — a walking tour of Lisbon with Frederico and a day tour of Sintra and Cascais with Margarida. Both were excellent! Fred and Margarida were knowledgeable and informative,, but never boring.. They were a pleasure to spend time with and had some great suggestions for things to see and places to eat while in Portugal. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Overall the Porto trip was good. We must point out however, there are a couple of areas that could be improved. First on arrival to Porto, after storing our bags at hotel and walking to have lunch, we returned to hotel and had 20 minutes to take bags to our rooms and get back down for a walking tour. By this time it was I believe close to 4 pm. Weather was extremely warm and the tour was far less enjoyable up and down hills and a real rush. We elected to pass on tour schedule the following day, went to the book store (we had tickets) and spent the rest of the day on our own. On Sunday we had the most amazing river boat ride on the Douro river, and then such a fun time at the winery Sandeman.

Such a great tour with so many hi-lights. Both of these areas were thoroughly explained to us and we had ample free time to do some shopping. Highly recommend.

The Evora day trip and visit to the family owned cork factory was one of my favorite experiences with The Good Life Abroad in Lisbon! Our guides, G and Carolina, were so fun, patient, energetic, and knowledgeable, they made the trip a real joy.
