I had an absolute blast at the 2026 Juneteenth event hosted by Black in Bali, it was truly amazing to bring Black American culture to Bali! Getting to join in on line dances, feel the rhythm, and be surrounded by pure Black joy in such a unique setting was an experience I'll never forget. The speakers were fantastic, genuinely enlightening, thoughtful, and clearly passionate about the history and meaning behind the day. You could tell a lot of care went into curating all parts of this program, especially the highlighted speakers. My only note, and it's a very small one, is regarding the food and entertainment. The offerings were Caribbean dishes, liked jerked chicken, and West African plates, like suya… and the entertainment was AfroBeats (Rotimi was such a VIBE). While it was delicious, fun, and I appreciated the broader diaspora representation, it IS NOT representative of the Holiday and my culture as a Black American. I'd loved to see more of the specific culinary and cultural traditions tied to Juneteenth itself like red drinks, watermelon, and classic soul food staples, alongside entertainment rooted more directly in Black American culture. It would have made the celebration feel even more complete and true to the holiday's roots. Overall, an unforgettable event filled with Black joy, connection, and community. I'd absolutely attend again!

I had an absolutely great trip for the Black in Bali event! The energy was incredible from start to finish, and I walked away with some truly wonderful connections. The absolute highlight of the entire experience for me was the Juneteenth event—it was beautifully done and so meaningful. Almost all of the curated events were wonderful and well-executed. The only real negative was the yacht party. The boat itself felt pretty underwhelming and didn't quite match the vibe or standard of the rest of the trip. I really wish there had been an alternative event option offered during that time for those who wanted a different experience. Overall, the vibes were amazing and the connections made it unforgettable!

I enjoyed meeting different people that lived in different areas of the country and the world. I do wish it there were more cultural options for exhibitions that you could learn more of the history of the country/ island. As well as explore more of the historic sites.

Good: The people met during the trip made the trip special. I loved the gift bags, range of activities, and the transportation team was top notch. The location of the hotel was central and I enjoyed the daily breakfast on site. It made the long excursion days away easier to navigate. The monkey forest/ swing dresses was my favorite activity day. Bad: The hotel’s hot water was lacking in my room the entire trip. I booked two extra nights and was finally moved to a room with hot water for those, but had none during the official trip. The farewell dinner service was super slow, but I did appreciate how the BIB team addressed the issue head on— especially Kendrick. Lastly, there was some miscommunication at the r&b pool party from the staff about a section. The BIB response to mix up was not professional or customer centric. I found it be rude and condescending in the way in particular Durnah behaved and no viable alternative solution was given by him, just chastisement. Mind you this was a problem created by the Atlas staff, not my group of 5. Even though the last activity ended on a sour note, overall, I still had a really good time, and even enjoyed the R&B pool party—from the pool. General feedback: I think you could really benefit from an app with a calendar, notifications, options to pay for extras, and a chat room. Scrolling through 40 messages to find the one relevant one is not ideal—especially on vacation. That feels like work. Also, it was sometimes unclear what was an included activity vs a paid activity. The app can solve that.

The all white party was not what I expected. As a caterer in the hospitality industry in Los Angeles, Ca, there are 2 main things that make an event memorable: Food and a music. The DJ did not keep us wanting to dance! The music was so disappointing (sucked)! The food was not served hot at all, not even sure if the chaffing dishes were lit. Not worth the money spent. We didn’t make it to the Juneteenth activity, but bought tickets.
