The tour wasn't worth it for us...
The staff was very nice. We got to see the beautiful waters around Isla Mujeres and enjoy ceviche and quacamole for lunch, which was nice.
However, the whole point of signing up for the whale shark tour was we wanted to see the whale sharks. It was an 1.5 hour rough boat ride out to where they are. Most guests got sick on the boat with 3/11 throwing up.
When we got to where the whale sharks were there were 20+ other boats in the area, so it was crowded.
We only got 2 dives in the water to see the sharks and they only were a few minutes. It felt very rushed so we could not enjoy our time.
We saw 8 whale sharks from the boat and 3 while in the water. It felt like the staff was so focused on taking a good video of us with the whale shark, so they could sell it to us for $80, then get us back in the boat for the next group. It was so disappointing.
After that they took us to Isla Mujeres to eat lunch and be in the ocean while they prepped it. The blue water around the island was nice.
I'm not sure if it's different with any of these tour companies, but we wanted more time with the whale sharks. That's what we signed up to see! But less than 10 minutes with the whale sharks for $400 for 2-people... not worth it!!!
