I highly recommend Leah Sugarman as a Yoga Teacher Training instructor, as well as her awesome curriculum for the YTT200.

There is no one better than Leah to guide you through a yoga-teacher training. She is kind and patient (more patient than any of us deserved). She compliments your strengths and provides gentle suggestions on how to work through a weakness to turn it into a strength. She makes yoga “welcoming and challenging for all” and she will train you to be able to do the same. And do not let her petite frame fool you! She is unbelievably strong, effortlessly completing a challenging yoga class while talking you through it, like a modern-day Mr. Miyagi. The accommodations in Costa Rica were better than I could have imagined, almost too good. The Yoga Shala is on a hilltop in the jungle that overlooks the ocean, there are two pools, a magnificent tree that remains a focal point to the property, comfortable accommodations, tropical wildlife that never ceased to amaze me, and the food was fresh and allergen friendly. Leah and the staff take great care of you! I have nothing but great things to say about Leah’s program, I’d recommend it to anyone whether you’re an aspiring yogi or would just like to incorporate a little more Zen into your life.

The retreat was the perfect opportunity to unplug, unwind and enjoy yoga in a beautiful setting, overlooking a quiet beach on an unspoiled Greek island. All of the details had been well considered, from the setting to the delicious food, the comfortable accommodation and the optional activities. Leah is a friendly, highly knowledgeable yoga instructor who made everyone feel welcome and included. Each yoga session was varied and adaptable enough to suit all levels of practice.

I booked a retreat with Leah at the last minute, as I was already in the Greek islands where it was being run. Leah was very accommodating and supportive from the start, answering questions, ensuring my arrival was easy, and informing me of what the retreat entailed. • Arrival: When I arrived at the port, I met some other students; everyone was open. When we arrived at the retreat, we were welcomed by a warm and caring instructor (Leah). From the start, it became apparent that the other students had been to other retreats with Leah, and they all spoke highly of the events and the teachings. • Accommodation: The views from my room were amazing, the facilities offered were 5-star, the staff couldn’t do enough for you, and the food was excellent; I could not fault any of it. It was a truly comfortable and well-cared-for environment. • The retreat: The content was diverse and engaging, and Leah's support was unwavering. I learned and grew in ways I hadn't anticipated, which was a truly inspiring and motivating experience. • Other participants: Five of the twelve students (41%) had completed the 200 YTT, and all wanted to attend Leah’s retreat. People had flown in from around the world to participate. That is a good advocation for the space Leah creates and the respect Leah has gained within a global community. The whole group bonded and had interesting stories to tell, and I’m sure everyone's paths will cross somewhere in the future. • The Teacher: It's hard to describe the knowledge, support, and space Leah provides for her students. Leah was always around to answer questions, and it was not unusual to sit for hours after breakfast, talking about yoga, life, and any topic people wanted to address Summary: If you are looking for a yoga retreat with warm kindness and want to expand your yoga practice, I highly recommend connecting with Leah and finding out when and where the next retreat is being held.
