7-Day Manu Park Reserved Zone Trip with Manu Explorers
What we really enjoyed was this different kind of Peru experience: the pure immersion in nature, hardly any other tourists besides our small group, the long boat trips on the rivers, both upstream and downstream, the fantastic Manu Explorers team, and above all, the many birds, pumas, caimans, giant otters, and so on.
Our guide, Fray Escobar, didn't always have it easy with some of the group members—egocentrics and other difficult individuals. Nevertheless, he handled everything well, and we saw and learned a great deal from him. He always had good ideas and went out of his way to ensure we got the most out of the trip. We were also very satisfied with his organizational skills.
Anise, our cook, did everything imaginable to provide us with delicious meals almost around the clock.
On the way back, our boatman was able to demonstrate his skills. A truly exciting return trip.
Those in the group who only had their smartphones with them missed out on capturing many of the wonderful wildlife encounters. Even with our 300mm zoom lens, we often had problems.
The only real weakness of the trip was the office team. Some inquiries were handled rather unfriendly, and others were only answered after repeated follow-ups. Without these follow-ups, we would have arrived two hours late for the pre-trip briefing, for example.
In summary, we can say that the trip was worthwhile for us, and we are glad we opted for the 7-day tour.
