We booked this tour more than six months in advance and specifically requested a Mandarin-speaking guide. Unfortunately, our first guide could not communicate effectively in either Mandarin or English and had limited knowledge of Mongolian culture and the sites included in our itinerary. We requested a replacement. The agency was polite, but explained that they could not evaluate the guide’s Mandarin proficiency because they do not speak Mandarin. However, this should not be the customer’s responsibility when a Mandarin-speaking guide has been requested. After our repeated requests, the agency replaced the guide on the third day with a much better one. The drivers were professional and experienced throughout the trip. However, both guides assigned to us were part-time guides and were not always able to provide detailed explanations of the attractions.

Cycle Mongolia/Mongolian Trekking organized a great trip for us which included several days of cycling through the steppes and over some passes. In the middle of it we went by horseback into a reindeer camp in Taiga West. It was an amazing experience. Great food and they took very good care of us. Highly recommended.

We have a group of 8 from 5 different countries and things went smoothly. Minor things to improve :: - We're supposed to have our own dining tent separated from the kitchen tent. But because of young skinny camels, we ended up sharing with the kitchen. So we didn't really have common place to hang out especially when it's raining or when they're cooking and it's too windy to sit out. - I was a bit surprise that we needed to set up/ put down our own tent everyday. I mean the staffs helped out but when you've walked 6 hrs and it's raining or through hail storm, it would be nice to actually have the tents set up and you could change into dry clothes. - Breakfast was nice but lunchboxes could be improved. (Most soups at dinner were great as well.) Anyway, despites these factors, it was still a very memorable trip and I certainly gained more experiences setting up tent.

Cycle Mongolia (affiliated with Mongolia Trekking) provided an experience that will be a treasured lifelong memory. Batbayar's organizational skills are impeccable, with every detail considered and followed-up. His team of people are local Mongolians, excellent individuals who are talented in their respective roles and whose presence add to the experience. I'm an experienced traveller, Africa, Asia, Europe, South America, etc., usually with one friend amd a backpack, so participating in a guided tour was new for me. But I learned more, travelled farther, engaged authentically and felt just as immersed if I'd done it alone. 5 STARS.

The value for price of this trip is fantastic. You get more than what you pay for. I re-read the full itinerary for this trek after I did the trip and all of it is accurate. I’m very grateful to Batbayar for creating a new trek in the beginning of June to allow me to participate in the trip as I’d already signed up for a different trek in the latter half of June. I’m also very grateful that Batbayar allowed the trip to happen despite there was only one client participating. This arrangement allowed for some unique activities that otherwise might not have happened. The driver for the trip, Nara, was from the area we traveled in and was very knowledgeable about many of the plants and general ecology – topics I was interested in. The camel ride was everything I wanted it to be and more. This was also true for all the other experiences the trip provided. The guide/interpreter, Munkh, was always attentive and available. If you would like to camp in the wilds of a Mongolian Gobi, ride a camel in the dunes, and be served ridiculous amounts of food at each meal, then this trip is for you! I highly recommend this trip.
