Although the Daffodil Festival on Nantucket was the centerpiece of the trip, Nancy packed in side adventures that were just as enjoyable. After a seafood lunch along the Cape Cod Canal, we visited the Sandwich Glass Museum and watched a glass blower turn a lump into a beautiful glass. In Hyannis we had a few hours to relax in the indoor pool or wander around the harbor before we met in various groups at nearby restaurants. Although the breakfast room was not available this early in the season, Nancy had made arrangements for a hot catered breakfast each morning. Then we donned flower-bedecked hats to board the ferry which was conveniently located right across the street from the hotel. Nantucket was awash in yellow- clothes, hats, daffodils, and decorated cars on the Main Street. After the car parade we boarded free shuttle buses out to Sconset for a tailgate party like no other. It seemed like the whole island, both natives and tourists, had turned out to wander from table to table, socialize, sip Bloody Marys and champagne, and nosh on hors d’oeurves and desserts. The next morning before leaving Hyannis, we made a brief stop at a JFK memorial in a nearby park. Then we continued on to Plymouth to view a famous rock and pose for a group photo in front of the impressive National Monument to the Forefathers. Continuing north we stopped in Cambridge to visit the Harvard Museum of Natural History and wander across Harvard Yard filled with students relaxing on a sunny spring Sunday. This was my second trip with Nancy and once again I was impressed with her planning and organization. It’s wonderful to be able to relax and not have to worry about driving, parking, or standing in line for tickets. Looking forward to future adventures.
