Odd to be asked for a review when the Tiderace Symposium in the Azores was postponed by the organisers with a month's notice due insufficient interest. (Presumably the review request is automated.) I guess these things happen, although I have not experienced a postponement of this kind before. In summary this was far from the best experience. As well as being disappointed at missing out on what looked like it would be a great sea kayaking experience, I'm financially out of pocket for non-refundable flights from the UK to the Azores, and for travel insurance that doesn't cover cancellation/rescheduling by the organisers.(Other elements such as the dog boarding and overnight stays in Lisbon I'd arranged in each direction could be cancelled without penalty.) Once burnt, twice(/forever?) shy... I won't be rebooking if the Symposium is indeed to go ahead in November... maybe I will try again in a couple of years if they have more experience of running a successful Symposium by then. One star... or none...
