Hatun Karpay Ceremony Review
The communication beforehand wasn’t always clear, and I had to stand firm at the last minute to make sure we followed the plan we agreed on. That part required some patience and self-trust.
However, the journey itself made everything worthwhile.
The trip into the mountains was beautiful. The taxi driver was kind, and the guide/translator was incredibly warm and supportive. Arriving in Pacchanta was a special experience in itself, such a simple yet deeply charming place, with very kind hosts and a peaceful atmosphere.
After a nourishing breakfast, we walked higher up toward the mountain. It wasn’t an easy hike, you truly have to earn it, but that effort made the experience even more meaningful.
The place where I received the Karpay was absolutely magical. Being in the presence of Ausangate Mountain felt powerful and alive, as if the mountain itself was sharing its energy. It was not just a ceremony, but a deep, felt experience.
Maestro Pampamesayoc Claudio Quispe Samata is a truly kind and caring soul. You can feel that he loves his work and is devoted to sharing his knowledge. I feel blessed to have been able to be with him during this experience.
The walk back to Pacchanta was both challenging and magical at the same time. And ending the day in the natural hot springs was incredible, they felt deeply restorative and renewed my whole body.
Despite the earlier communication challenges, this was a profound and memorable experience that I will carry with me.
Claudia.
