The trip itself is incredible. Challenging and rewarding. The star of our show was our guide, Hebert, aka Papas. He was knowledgeable, funny, inspiring, and just overall a great person to hike with. The food was good. I am vegan, so I was a little anxious going into it, but the porters and chef did an amazing job accommodating me. I personally just didn't love the food, but that was a me problem. I really like Peru Treks. They are one of the more affordable, minimalistic, and, in my opinion, authentic hiking companies out there. I don't love seeing the bougie companies on the trail as much. I felt like we were one of the most minimal, true camping experiences out there, and I appreciated that.

A once in a lifetime experience. Herbert aka Papas was an incredible tour guide and the crew of porters and chefs were amazing too. The trek was hard but the experience from beginning to end was great and we felt well informed and taken care of. 11/10

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Unbelievable experience! Such an incredible trip with Peru Treks. Great people, amazing food, and an experience that made me fall in love with Peru and want to learn more Spanish and explore the culture even further. Our guide, papas, was unbelievable. He worked closely with everyone on the trail, taking each person’s ability and pace into account. Between him and the amazing porters, we felt supported throughout the entire journey. The trip was organized and well put together, and the team’s care really showed. The food exceeded our expectations. Dietary requirements were taken seriously, and my friend, who is vegan, was served thoughtful, multi-course meals every day. What the team prepared out on the trail was impressive. The hiking definitely pushed us each day, so be prepared for a good amount of exercise, but it was incredibly rewarding and absolutely worth it. My only constructive feedback would be quicker email responses during the planning process and clearer information about what gets carried for you ( website is a little dated). For our booking, the included porter service covered the sleeping bag and pad; we were responsible for our other belongings unless we hired an additional porter. I ended up doing that and found it very helpful. All in all, five stars. Great service, an unforgettable adventure, and an incredible guide and porter team. So grateful we got to experience Peru this way!

Our group of 4 had a fabulous time on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu (3 nights, 4 days). Our guide, Efran, was wonderful. He was informative about the history of the trail and local culture; enthusiastic to share his knowledge and keep us motivated during challenging parts of the trek, and patient with our group's diverse hiking experience levels. The porters and chef offered incredible support and hospitality during the trek. Food was delicious, nutritious, and plentiful and provided us with a means of enjoying local flavours. Camp equipment, while rustic, met our groups needs. Two of our members rented equipment, and two of us brought our own. In any case, tents and sleeping bags weere set up and ready to go each day before we arrived at camp! The "back country jacuzzi" (personal bowl of hot water) was a nice way to get cleaned up after the day's trek, and tea time in the evenings and mornings was delightful. Transportation, permits, and other smaller logistical details were handled very well in the office and in the field. I hope to look forward to planning another trek in the future!
