The Woody Creek Cabin is a fantastic setting for an avalanche course. Just a 2.5 mile skin from downtown Cooke City, the cabin is nestled in the forest near the confluence of Woody and Hayden Creeks at 8,700 feet in elevation. This zone south of Cooke City is compromised of national forest and wilderness, with great terrain for skiing.During the 3 days, participants will be exposed to techniques and skills required to be a competent backcountry partner. This will include a combination of lectures and field sessions, where students will get hands on experience learning about snowpack layering, terrain management, weather elements, decision making, and rescue skills.*Beartooth Powder Guides is an approved American Avalanche Association course provider. Over the course of two days, participants will be exposed to techniques and skills required to become a more competent backcountry partner and rider.
