This was my first jam camp and first experience with Red Clover Ranch. It was an off-the-charts, out-of-the-park fantastic experience, A to Z in every respect. Ryan and Hayes were both down to earth, easy to talk to teachers and mentors, while being brain-melting virtuosos when they cut loose on bluegrass guitar. The other participants were all congenial Flatpicking compatriots who were all very supportive and fun to be with. The food has to be mentioned: I was sort of expecting some kind of generic open-some-cans or microwave stuff to take care of the big (16) mass of appetites three times a day, but I was completely astonished and delighted at the glorious delicious/nutritious gourmet Michelin Star level food that Chef Dani created for every meal, and for lagniappe, Dani herself was a shining beacon of joy, warmth, high spirits, and fun that alloyed so well with her culinary expertise. Owner Annie should be commended for her superb work in setting up and outfitting the Red Clover Ranch so well for group events like this. Other details? I was glad that my cabin was air conditioned in the toasty weather we had (although the AC remote was behind a curtain and I didn't find it right away). Night noises: I have never heard such loud bullfrogs anywhere, any time - aspiring Pavarottis all - but thankfully my cabin was very well sound insulated and I couldn't hear them at all once inside. So all in all: wonderful time - I can't wait to come back again next year for another Jam Camp Getaway. Many thanks, Ryan and everyone!
