St Francis Springs Prayer Center is the most beautiful place for quiet, reflection and prayer. I visit for self imposed silent retreats staying in one of the well appointed hermitages. As well as I attend various retreats, I especially love the Icon Retreat. The food, staff and facility is excellent. I visit here frequently. I am so thankful for this retreat center.

Dinner after Holy Hour

Using a Gospel framework that is Scripture-based and courageously anti-racist, participants gain both a gospel understanding of racism and the teachings of mainstream racial equity movements.From Friday evening to Sunday morning, participants are guided through the profound meanings and implications for sound racial analysis that can lead to holistic actions. This 10-hour course provides a thick and true historical narrative to show the distinct nature of America’s original sin of racism. The authors of this guide have taken great care to accurately present racial equity understandings, while providing a Gospel framework to evaluate, enrich, and embellish those teachings.The aim is for people raced as white to join people of color in combating new and emerging forms of racism by understanding the full picture of historical racism and the forces that fueled slavery and violent domination.Check-in begins at 3:00 PM on July 31, and our first gathering will take place at 4:45 PM before dinner that evening. The retreat will conclude at 9:55 AM on Sunday. Guests are also welcome to stay for Mass at 10:00 AM and brunch at 10:45 AM if their schedule allows.

Inspired by the historic Freedom Rides of the Civil Rights movement, Dumas Harshaw will lead a Civil Rights Pilgrimage to Montgomery, Alabama. This is a Freedom Ride retreat intended to be spiritually moving and reflective. Retreat leader Dumas Harshaw is a Howard Thurman scholar and pastor of First Baptist Church in Raleigh. This 5-day, 4-night experience will take us from SFSPC to various iconic Civil Rights locations including the King Center in Atlanta, Dexter Ave. Baptist Church where Rosa Parks trained peaceful sit-ins, and then the Legacy Museum in Montgomery, before returning back to SFSPC for a time to debrief and reflect on the experience.&nbsp;

St. Francis Springs Prayer Center (SFSPC) is a 33 room retreat center located 20 miles north of Greensboro.  it serves groups as large as 75 and individuals as small as 1.  SFSPC sits on 140 acres and seeks to have our guests experience hospitality, contemplation and justice while on their stay with us.  

The SFSPC Anniversary Mass will be at 10 am. Followed by brunch at 10:45 am. Then the Earth Day Programming will begin at noon and go until 4 pm! Our Earth Day speaker is Charles Pilkey, a former geologist turned author, artist, and illustrator. Pilkey is one of the contributors of the brand-new book Escaping Nature: How to Survive Global Climate Change. In Escaping Nature, the authors make the argument for the necessity of a new Nature-Centered faith. Technology alone will not be enough to address environmental issues. We need to change ourselves as well - change our perception of the Human/Nature interface. St. Francis' mystical union with Nature is one of several possible ways to connect to the biosphere. Cost is $25 for the program and includes brunch.&nbsp;

Earth Day and Anniversary Mass

Have you always wanted to lead a retreat, but don't know how to begin? This one-day workshop (from 10 AM to 3PM at St. Francis Springs, 477 Grogan Rd., Stoneville NC 27048) will help you get started. Topics will include developing a theme, pre-event planning, on-site considerations, facilitating sessions, dealing with the unexpected, and recognizing when to let go and let the Spirit lead.
 
Sue DiMaggio has led retreat teams for nearly 20 years. A&nbsp; retired communications professional, Sue incorporates the arts, interactivity, and adult learning principles to develop meaningful retreats that resonate with a wide range of participants.&nbsp;
 
The cost is $40 and will include lunch.
