This trip was way above any expectations I had. Every place we went, every place we ate and every hotel we stayed at were above excellent and geared to the birds. AND THE BIRDING WAS AMAZING!! Our local guide Luis B, knew everyone everywhere and was connected electronically with his network of guides everyday on every hike. He always knew where the fantastic birds were. And our trip manager, Steve E, was there making every move we made smooth and without wrinkles. I would not hesitate to go again especially with these two exceptionally experienced people.

My trip with Roaming Naturalists was a small group, extremely well organized, and flawlessly executed. We visited three game preserves and had 18-20 bush rides, identifying all sorts of animals and birds, and staying in fabulous safari lodges. We also visited Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town and Victoria Falls. The food was wonderful and the people were friendly and accommodating at each location we visited. Steve took care of ALL the in-country travel, hotel and dining reservations, and gratuities. It was a pleasure to be on a vacation where your ONLY additional expenses were souvenirs! Steve did a fabulous job and communicated with us all before, during and after the trip. I'm excited to go on additional trips that Roaming Naturalists offers!

What a great experience! Steve was meticulous in preparations, including several zoom calls prior to the trip. All went smoothly, and when changes were necessary, they were handled with no stress or anxiety. Accommodations were very comfortable, food was excellent, and transportation seamless. Side tours were very informative, and people we interacted with were very friendly and accommodating. The actual safari excursions were very informative, as Steve is well versed in botany and ornithology as well as African wildlife. We were quite lucky in seeing all of the "Big Five" in our first two excursions, with the bonus of rarely-seen African Wild Dogs and Cheetahs observed as well. Truly the trip of a lifetime, well-planned and executed. Highly recommend!

This trip is a great way to see South Africa. From safari adventures, to city tours of Cape Town and Johannesburg everything was well planned by Roaming Naturalists. The group is small allowing us to be agile and change plans quickly if we needed to. We also had downtime so we could relax or plan our own adventures. The accommodations, restaurants and tours we took were all vetted by Steve. I highly recommend this tour.

Steve Eshbaugh pays attention to details with meeting us upon arrival and attention to every detail after this. The food was incredible, accomodations outstanding - and his rapport with the owners, staff at these accomodations confirms his ongoing relationships with them. His knowlege and experience show.
