Pasamos un rato agradable buscando a nuestro tapir, no fué posible verlo, pero ún así vimos 3 serpientes y ranas que hasta el momento no habíamos visto. Muy recomendable.

Jesse (our guide) was the most amazing guide we have ever had!! He worked so hard to find all the things that we were hoping to see. I would only do it again with Jesse. But the entry fee is very high.

We had a wonderful tour with very kind and knowledgeable guides. It’s clear that they love what they do and are very proud of what has been built at Tapir Valley— and rightly so! And of course, we saw so many amazing animals!

My young adult daughter and I loved this private night tour. We were fortunate to see a tapir feeding on guavas right at the beginning, which was great because we did not see them again. That visit was long and fabulous though! We had a good, long look at her. Thanks to Jesse, our wonderful, knowledgable guide, the rest of the tour was also enjoyable and interesting. We saw tiny vipers, a few birds taking cover in the trees (hard to spot, but Jesse is an active birder and spotter), bats briefly, toads, and oh the frogs! Red eyed tree frogs with brilliant coloring, and many other varieties including the endemic frog, found only in that area. Jesse was able to find it by its sound alone. We appreciated the tall rubber. boots they provide - use them - keeping us dry and able to walk wherever was most interesting. We were pleasantly surprised there was a snack of fresh fruit and an empanada. Bathroom. The reserve is clearly well run and looked after. We felt it was a treat to be led at night since I would be unlikely to do that on my own. Strongly recommend! Amy & D.

Frogs galore (and a few toads, and yes a snake or two)! We are, every visit to Tapir Valley, greeted by an adult male Baird's tapir...in the parking lot! [NOTE - your experience may not be the same and no, this is not something planned by the Tapir Valley folk, but we are "batting 1.000" for our nighttime visits!]. Guide Jesús Fernández was exceptional - and for us, both wildlife professionals, his stories, his natural history knowledge, and above all, his passion made for an exceptional night. Be sure to come prepared (esp., bring a pancho, a lens-drying cloth (for eyeglasses, camera, and binos - the latter you might even leave behind for the mostly up-close nighttime tours), and botas, the latter of which Tapir Valley can provide...and hope for a night in which, for at least a portion of your hike, the heavens will open. There are several reasons for this (see the first two words of our review) but one of the most important (without the spoiler) is what the staff will have prepared for you in the middle of your walk.
