I decided it was time to do something for myself. Instead of filling up everyone else’s cup I filled my own. In summer 2025, I decided to sign up for The Embodied Warrior School of Sound in Costa Rica. I was terrified when I did it, investing so much to myself, traveling internationally for the first time, etc. You name it I was thinking it.
Ive known Megan since my YTT in 2024 and every step of the way she’s been SO supportive and encouraging. Costa Rica was no different.
This training/trip, from the moment I signed up to even now, months later has left me with support, new friends/community, connection to myself and everything around me and so much more. It was truly life changing and inspiring.
Now, let’s get out of the feels and into the experience and training. I’m all about organization/planning and everything from stepping off the plane in San Jose, everything in between and back to boarding for home, went flawlessly.
The retreat center was everything I could have dreamed of. It was clean the staff was so kind and the food was everything I’ve never had! Even the bananas. I still dream of them sometimes haha! Everything was open concept and it felt like I was walking through the jungle everyday. Seeing the leaf cutting ants trail was one of my favorite morning routines. My room felt like it was picked just for me. And when I didn’t feel like being in my room, there was plenty of lounging places with privacy that you could reflect, read, or write. I felt comfortable to be myself where ever I choose to put my body.
Now onto the training. I felt pretty confident because I took the in person 10 hour sound training but being away from home around new and old friends has a way of humbling your ego. I learned SO much. Things I thought I knew but didn’t. How intricate and deep the science of sound truly goes. Megan and the other students were so patient with me and with each other. Never once did I feel out of place or not good enough. Megan was very knowledgeable and left us with resources I’ll probably use for the rest of my life. Throughout the days we learned different instruments, how to play effectively, the what to do and what not to do.
On our down time we got to explore and rest. We spent the afternoon at the beach where I got to fully immerse myself in the Pacific Ocean for the FIRST time. A trip to a nearby waterfall which I regret skipping but I was in need of some rest. Another afternoon was spent in town checking out the local shops and the market and somewhere in between house mama helped schedule tattoo sessions for an unforgettable souvenir!
Overall I left feeling more confident in my practice, more aligned in my purpose, and never ending grateful for the space that was created for growth and reflection. This experience went far beyond certification. It reset my soul. I would recommend this trip to anyone seeking deep healing, expansion, and a truly unforgettable journey.
