We enjoyed our visit to Camp Cecil. The activities were generally very good, although unfortunately when we visited the sealion colony as Los Islotes most of the sealions were on land and didn't want to get in the water to play. The tents were a bit on the small and basic side for a true "glamping" experience. The food was mainly good, although some of the dishes were a bit bland, but saved by adding spicy salsa. There were only five of us staying when we visited, and for that the number of toilets and showers was adequate, but if the camp were to be full I think 2 showers and toilets per 10 guests might not be enough. They also weren't very good at refilling the showers - we got back from two different activities to find that they were empty and had to ask to get them refilled. The showers were also a very sandy experience with very poor water pressure. There is no base to the showers - they are right on the sand. They would be much improved by the addition of a wooden base to stand on plus a bucket outside to rinse your feet and some hooks/shelves or an upturned bucket on the inside to put your stuff. None of these are big issues, but if you are charging a premium price then we expect a premium service. The toilets were absolutely fine and not smelly. It also at times felt a bit like they were only interested in showing us the "standard" birds and animals that guests are interested in - on some of the trips we picked up our cameras to take photos of Hermen's Gulls and we just continued to speed right past them, even when we specifically asked what they were. One of the other guests had mentioned a few times that she was really keen to see mobula, and again, we saw a few from the boat, but barely paused. Also, one of the nights that we were there the wind really picked up and so the tents were very noisy, flapping in the wind, so do bring ear plugs. Overall, we did really enjoy our visit and would recommend it for people who want a get away from it all beach experience, but it is very much at the basic end of "glamping".
