Trina is perhaps the most selfless, thoughtful, and wisest woman I have met outside of my mother. I took a leap of faith and blindly joined her week long retreat in Italy and was shocked to learn that this was her first retreat. I was the youngest participant by a decade or so and did not know Trina beyond her website profile. I am not sure if Trina had expected a young and somewhat random attendee, but she designed the program so carefully and thoroughly that each woman at her retreat felt like they were having their own personal healing, yoga, and mindfulness experience. As a young professional living in Mew York City who attempts to carve out an hour or so to attend a yoga class and calling that “wellness”, Trina guided me through the parts of my life that were stressful and equipped me with mindfulness and yoga tools to create spaces in my life for more love and care. I am not sure if this was intentional, but Trina transformed the way I understand yoga, self-care, and meditation through her guided practices, and thus, transformed the way I perceive myself and create meaning in the world. She built the retreat around reflection, guided poses, breath work, connection to each other and the spaces we inhabit, rest. The entire experience felt like closing those mental tabs running in the background of your mind, exhaling, and opening your eyes to see the world and those around you shimmer a little bit more. I wonder if part of the reason she is so talented at crafting yoga and mindfulness practices is because of her vast amount of interests and hobbies that seem to all display their virtues in her yoga practices. When you get to know her and sit next to her at dinner, you will learn that she ballroom dances, has band practices after work, plans themed parties for her loved ones, and used to compete in athletics. Trina is a gift to this world and a world class person. If you have the opportunity to be part of any of the experiences she creates, consider yourself blessed.
