The trip is advertised as a 2-3 hour drive. The actual drive took 4 hours and 25 minutes. The road is in very bad condition with pot holes and loose gravel requiring us to drive no faster than 10-20 miles per hour for the majority of the trip. We were the only 2 passengers in a van in poor working condition with no a/c. When the road was very dusty the windows had to be closed and it was like riding in a sauna. The driver had to fiddle with the lock to get the sliding door to close. At one point the door flew open and fortunately, my wife who was sitting next to the door had her seat belt on or she could have been ejected. We were scheduled for a game drive at 3PM but did not arrive in time. They called our guide and made arrangements to start at 4PM, resulting in a shorter game drive since the park closes at 6PM. We did not get to check into our room until after the game drive. The itinerary also advertised “Elephant Tracking by Moonlight” the first evening. Our guide said this is never done since the park closes at 6PM. During our short 2-hour sunset game drive we saw a lot of animals including jackals, elephants, impala, hippos, crocodiles, zebra, a cheetah, and a variety of birds. Our full day game drive went from 7:30AM to 3:30PM. Our guide Bloomer provided hot coffee and tea mid-morning at a rest area with bathrooms and lunch at a nice camp site/rest area. We again saw many animals including waterbuck, baboons, wildebeest, eland, impala, crocodiles, giraffe, sable, kudu, roan, elephants, vervet monkeys, and a variety of birds. According to our itinerary our morning game drive on day 3 was supposed to start at 5:30AM. However, the park does not open until 6:30AM. We did about a 1.5 hour game drive starting at 7:30 and saw very little. We had a better vehicle on the return drive that had good a/c and working doors. We were joined by two additional people for the trip. About 15 minutes from Victoria Falls, our van broke down with a damaged timing belt due to the rough roads. Fortunately, another vehicle picked us up and brought us to our hotel after a short 10-minute wait. We stayed at the Hwange Safari Lodge located about 5 miles from the entrance to the National Park. The facility has 100 rooms with air-conditioning, heat, wifi, and complimentary guest amenities. We had a king bed and breakfast was included. The wifi was excellent and the a/c worked well. The restaurant offers both buffet and a la cart dining. The menu was somewhat limited but the food was very good. Our room overlooked a waterhole where we saw many animals. In addition to the tour cost you have to pay additional $24 per person per day with credit card or cash for park fees. The tour cost included the game drives, 2 nights lodging, 2 breakfasts and 1 lunch. We chose to pay for our own dinners which was less expensive than selecting the all-inclusive package with all meals. The information provided by the tour company was inaccurate and the drive from Victoria Falls to Hwange is the worst I have ever experienced. The morning game drive is not worth the $48 we had to pay for park fees. Hwange Park is amazing with many animals, good roads and not congested. If you can spend several full days at Hwange then it may be worth the drive.

Thank you for this opportunity to communicate regarding the subject trip In spite of the payment to WeTravel in the amount of $12,772.40 this trip was never arranged and never occurred. The charge was disputed on 21 July 2026 as explained in several emails in early August or late July. This notice is another example of poor communication at WeTravel. No offense and best wishes for better service with other clients but I will not use WeTravel in the future.

We had many problems right from the start. Marvel from victoria Falls serious fun did not pay the subcontractor in Botswana until the last minute and only at a small percentage of the agreement. The woman who picked us up, said she almost didn’t even show up. She didn’t smile, and that was a start of many camping problems with not enough food, not enough gas, generally poor management of our trip. The saving grace was our Safari guide who was just fantastic. But returning to one of our lodges one day we almost got evicted at around 8 PM because of nonpayment to the lodge by victoria victoria Falls serious fun. It was actually a serious problem and luckily, in the end they worked something out with the owner of the lodge. I do not recommend this company for anyone. Besides that we had to spend an extra $800 to cover gas and national Park fees that should have been included, but we’re not. Sorry to have to report all this, but it’s the truth of our trip and part of our memories of seeing and being in Botswana, which was fantastic.
