The trip was amazing, we had a great time and obtained a wealth of knowledge. Our guide Cillian was fantastic, very knowledgeable and made the trip a lot of fun. We believe the avalanche skills course and backcountry splitboard course are must does for people looking to get into backcountry snowboarding or skiing and would highly recommend for anyone deciding whether it will be worth it for them.

Wonderful and fun guided ski tour. Guide is very knowledgeable and helps us ski many great lines each day. Guide also cook us camp dinner every night as well. It took a day or two for us to learn each other uphill paces and ski styles and guide got good tips customized for each of us to improve our skills and snow condition. Overall got so much better experiences and much safer with the guide than going BC ski touring on my own.

This was a great trip. Our guide was Jules was fantastic. Well organised and he explained everything clearly and demonstrated all tasks in a way that instilled confidence in me, and in him! He was also just a super fun guy to hang out with, which was important given there were only four of us on the course over the 4 days. It felt a lot like just going out for a few days climbing with mates. Very happy that WMG matched up the 4 participants so we had similar experience and skill levels, this meant the pace of learning and time on the ice was about right. Only suggestion might be to bring along some tiny stools to sit on when we hanging out in the teepee tent at night

I took part in the ASC2 and Glacier Travel & Crevasse Rescue courses with Wanaka Mountain Guides, and both were fantastic experiences. From the start, the communication was clear, friendly, and approachable, which made everything easy to organise and gave me confidence before the courses began. Both courses had an excellent progression and were highly practical. They exceeded my expectations and gave me skills that I feel confident applying out there. We had the same instructor for both courses, Petrouchka, and she was outstanding. She explained concepts in different ways to make sure everyone understood, adapted her teaching to each person’s goals and experience, and encouraged us to think beyond the course by developing good decision-making and forward-thinking habits. A big thank you to Wanaka Mountain Guides and Petrouchka for a valuable learning experience. I would happily recommend these courses to anyone looking to build their mountain skills.
