Main Trip: Discover Scuba Diving

An entry-point for those new to the water.

This experience is designed for beginners with no previous diving knowledge required. We focus on creating a safe, controlled environment where you can gain confidence in the water at your own pace.

Led by the H2O Divers team, you will learn the fundamental safety guidelines and equipment skills needed to experience the Red Sea’s reefs firsthand. This is about building a foundation and experiencing the underwater world with the support of a community that understands the importance of feeling seen and safe in outdoor spaces.

  • Requirements: None. Open to all beginners.

  • Focus: Safety, equipment basics, and building confidence in a new environment.

Trip Extension: PADI Open Water Course

For those looking to deepen their skills and gain global certification.

If you have previous diving experience or have completed a Discover Scuba dive and want to take the next step, this extension is for you. This is a transition from being a guest in the water to becoming a qualified diver.

The Open Water course requires a commitment to learning the technical "why" behind diving. You will move through knowledge development and practical skill sessions in shallow water before completing four full dives on the reefs of Dahab. Upon completion, you will be a PADI certified diver, qualified to dive to 18 meters anywhere in the world.

  • Requirements: Some previous experience required (comfort in the water/previous intro dive).

  • Focus: Technical skill mastery, dive theory, and gaining your international certification.

This qualification is for life and allows you to dive anywhere is the world with a registered dive centre and dive guide.

Day 6-11 - Trip Extension: PADI Open Water Course

6th - 11th November 2026
Day 6-11 - Trip Extension: PADI Open Water Course image

Take your diving to the next level!

PADI Open Water Course (OWC)

The PADI Open Water course is the industry standard for those looking to move beyond a trial experience and become certified divers. This course is a four-day commitment that transitions you from a beginner to a globally recognised diver, qualified to dive to 18 meters anywhere in the world.

This trip extension is hosted by experienced team at H2O Divers Dahab.

The course is structured around three key phases:

  1. Knowledge Development: You will complete the theory portion via PADI eLearning. This ensures you understand the safety protocols, equipment mechanics, and physics of diving before you even get in the water.

  2. Confined Water Sessions: You will practice essential skills in a shallow, sheltered environment (often at Dahab’s Lighthouse Reef). This is where you build muscle memory, mastering buoyancy and safety drills until they become second nature.

  3. Open Water Dives: You will complete four full dives on Dahab’s world-class reefs. Under the guidance of your instructor, you’ll apply your skills in the open sea while exploring the Red Sea’s vibrant marine life.

general icon

Requirements & Previous Experience

  • Previous Diving: While the Open Water course is technically the first level of certification and requires no prior scuba experience, we recommend this extension for those who have completed our Discover Scuba Diving main trip or already have a high level of comfort in open water.

  • Swimming Ability: Factually, to complete this course, you must demonstrate basic water skills. This includes being able to swim 200 meters (unaided and without stopping) and being able to float or tread water for 10 minutes to ensure you are comfortable and safe in the ocean environment.

  • Health: All participants must be in good physical health. You will be required to complete a standard PADI Medical Statement before hitting the water. If you have certain pre-existing conditions (such as asthma or heart issues), a doctor’s sign-off is required by H2O Divers to ensure your safety.

  • Commitment: This is more than just a holiday activity; it is a performance-based certification course. You aren't just paying for a license, you are committing to training that makes you a safe, competent diver.

Meals

Food in Dahab is a vibrant reflection of Egyptian culture: Fresh, flavourful, and full of variety.

For this trip, meals will be both delicious and thoughtfully selected to suit the group, with halal-friendly options always prioritised. Expect a mix of traditional dishes like grilled meats, falafel, lentil soups, fresh salads, and warm flatbreads, alongside local seafood and Middle Eastern favourites such as hummus, tahini, and stuffed vine leaves.

Whether dining poolside at the hotel, enjoying a traditional Bedouin dinner under the stars, or eating out at a seafront restaurant, the atmosphere is relaxed and inclusive.

There will be plenty of vegetarian options, and alcohol-free spaces will be respected throughout the trip. Dining in Dahab is as much about sharing and connection as it is about the food itself.

We recommend budgeting around £300 spending money for extra meals and drinks during the itinerary.
