This is Cartagena beyond the postcard, vibrant, soulful, and deeply rooted in Afro-Colombian culture. This immersive experience brings together two of the city’s most authentic cultural encounters into one unforgettable journey through history, music, movement, and flavor.
Guests will explore traditional neighborhoods, including the iconic Getsemaní, Cartagena’s creative and cultural heart. Once a working-class stronghold, Getsemaní is now an open-air gallery alive with murals, street art, music, and stories that reflect the city’s social, cultural, and economic evolution.
The experience also includes time at Bazurto Market, the vibrant pulse of everyday Cartagena. This lively, sensory-rich marketplace offers an unfiltered look at local life, filled with bold colors, infectious music, rich aromas, and nonstop energy. Guests will sample local delicacies, interact with vendors, and experience Cartagena as residents do.
Along the way, guests will participate in a Salsa and Champeta dance lesson, using movement and rhythm to connect with Afro-Caribbean culture, and enjoy a traditional Afro-Colombian lunch prepared within the community and rooted in ancestral flavors and heritage.
This textile cultural immersion is bold, joyful, and deeply human, designed for travelers who want to truly understand Cartagena, not just see it. A can’t-miss experience for anyone seeking culture, connection, and authenticity.
Step into living history with an unforgettable journey to San Basilio de Palenque, a UNESCO-recognized village and the first free African town in the Americas. Founded in the 1600s by Africans who escaped slavery, Palenque is not a museum or a reenactment. It is a thriving, living community where African traditions, language, music, and spiritual practices are still woven into everyday life.
This immersive day experience offers a rare opportunity to connect deeply with the African diaspora through the stories, rhythms, and resilience of the Palenquero people. Guided by a local expert, you’ll explore the village’s rich history, learn about its unique Creole language rooted in Bantu influences, and witness how ancestral customs, traditional medicine, music, and dance have been preserved across centuries.
The experience comes alive through cultural performances, storytelling, and personal interaction with community members, along with tastings of traditional sweets and flavors passed down through generations. More than a tour, Palenque is a powerful homecoming moment that honors resistance, freedom, and cultural survival.
This experience is bold, emotional, and deeply affirming. It is one of those rare moments that stays with you long after the day ends, and a defining highlight of our time in Colombia.
Experience Cartagena the way it’s meant to be enjoyed, from the water. This included beach hopping and boat tour is a full-sensory escape through the Caribbean, blending sun, rhythm, relaxation, and pure joy as we explore some of the most beautiful coastal gems just beyond the city.
We’ll cruise across crystal-clear waters by boat, hopping between stunning islands and beaches known for their turquoise seas, soft sand, and laid-back Caribbean energy. Along the way, there’s time to swim, float, sunbathe, and vibe, whether that means lounging with a drink in hand, dipping into warm waters, or dancing to music as the boat glides across the sea.
This adventure is equal parts freedom and fun. Think salt on your skin, sunshine on your body, laughter in the air, and that unmistakable feeling of being fully present. It’s a chance to connect with each other, embrace the beauty of the Caribbean coastline, and soak in Cartagena from its most breathtaking perspective.
This is not just a boat ride. It’s a celebration of ease, pleasure, and Black joy, and one of those days that reminds you exactly why you said yes to this trip.
We’ll close out our time in Cartagena with a memorable farewell dinner at one of the city’s top restaurants, selected for its exceptional cuisine, refined atmosphere, and celebrated take on modern Colombian gastronomy. Set within Cartagena’s historic core, this final evening is designed to be both indulgent and unforgettable, the perfect way to toast an incredible journey together.
The dining experience will showcase Colombia’s rich flavors and native ingredients through a contemporary lens, highlighting locally sourced elements, bold pairings, and artful presentation. Expect a thoughtfully curated menu that balances tradition and innovation, featuring vibrant seafood, expertly prepared meats, tropical fruits, and complex sauces inspired by the region’s culinary heritage.
This farewell dinner is more than a meal. It’s a celebration of culture, connection, and shared memories, and the kind of night that lingers long after the last course is served.
