Aclimatization

Your adventure begins with a pickup at 11:00 AM in Quito, where you'll be whisked away to Tambopaxi Lodge nestled in the Ecuadorian Andes, situated at an altitude of approximately 3,800 meters (12,467 feet). This first day is dedicated to acclimatizing to the high altitude, allowing your body to adjust gradually to the thinner air. Take in the stunning mountain scenery surrounding the lodge as you prepare for the exhilarating journey ahead. Cap off the day with a delicious dinner, fueling yourself for the challenges to come.

Cotopaxi Refuge

After a leisurely morning, gather at Tambopaxi Lodge at 2 pm after lunchtime for a comprehensive briefing and gear check. Ensure all your equipment is in order before embarking on the next phase of your expedition. Following the preparations, it's time to transfer to José Rivas Car Park, located at an altitude of approximately 4,800 meters (15,748 feet). From here, begin the trek to José Ribas Refuge, where you'll spend the night in readiness for the summit push. Throughout the trek, soak in the breathtaking views of the Andean landscape, immersing yourself in the natural beauty of the region.

Cotopaxi Summit

In the early hours of the morning, prepare for the ultimate challenge: summiting Cotopaxi. With a midnight start, set off on the arduous ascent, aiming to reach the summit, towering at approximately 5,897 meters (19,347 feet), during the narrow window between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM. Experience the thrill of conquering one of the highest active volcanoes in the world as you stand atop its majestic peak, surrounded by panoramic views of the Andean peaks and valleys. After savoring this triumphant moment, descend back to José Ribas Refuge for a well-deserved breakfast. Following breakfast, it's time to bid farewell to the refuge and begin the journey back to José Rivas Car Park. From there, you'll be transferred back to Quito, reflecting on the incredible feat you've accomplished and the unforgettable memories created along the way.
