Arrival, Twin Craters and Giant Tortoise Reserve in the Highlands (L)

Upon arrival at Baltra airport, you will meet our naturalist guide.

At the airport, you will first take a shuttle service to the Itabaca Canal.

A short ferry ride will get you across the channel in a couple of minutes. From here you will be taken by private transport to Puerto Ayora, the city of the island of Santa Cruz. Along the way, you'll make a brief stop at Los Gemelos Crater, which is a pair of collapsed craters that formed when the earth sank into empty magma chambers of ancient volcanoes. You can also find some birds here. Then you will visit the El Chato Reserve, where you can observe the giant tortoises in the wild that are endemic to the Galapagos. Near the ranch, you will also have the opportunity to see a lava tunnel from the inside. These tunnels were formed when the outer layer of molten lava solidified, while liquid magma continued to flow during a volcanic eruption many years ago. You will have lunch at the private ranch in the El Chato Reserve, before continuing the journey to your hotel in Puerto Ayora.

The rest of the afternoon you will have free time to spend on your own. You can stroll along the boulevard of Puerto Ayora. Another option would be to visit the Charles Darwin Research Station, where you can see more giant tortoises and a pair of captive yellow iguanas.

Bartolomé, North Seymour, South Plaza or Santa Fe (B, L) (Optio

Today you will go on a full day excursion to one of these four special uninhabited islands. The island you request to visit will depend on the availability provided by the Galapagos National Park to the boats. In addition to a visit to the land, you will also have the opportunity to go snorkeling during the tour to discover the underwater fauna of Galapagos. A box lunch will be served on board.

Bartholomew,

Home to the famous Pinnacle rock, Bartholomew consists of an extinct volcano with a variety of volcanic formations colored red, orange, black and even green. A stair path leads to the top of the volcano, with one of the best views on the islands. The beach is perfect for snorkeling and possible Galapagos penguin sightings.

North Seymour

North Seymour Galapagos sea lions, blue footed boobies and magnificent frigates abound on North Seymour Island. The island was made up of a series of underwater lava that contained layers of sediment that were raised by tectonic activity. The island is characterized by its arid vegetation zone. Here you can also find land and marine iguanas.

South square

This small island with steep cliffs was formed by rising lava and is now covered by Opuntia cacti. It is also home to one of the largest sea lion colonies, as well as colorful yellow and red land iguanas. The most characteristic plant is the sesuvio. During the rainy season, its color is greenish to yellowish and in the dry season (from late June to January) a bright red.

Santa Fe

Santa Fe is home to the picturesque little bay and anchorage on the northeast coast of the island. The bay has two visitor trails, one that leads to a panoramic viewpoint on a cliff and the other that runs from a small beach to a tall cactus forest. You can also find land iguanas on this island.

Tortuga Bay and bay tour (B)

Tortuga Bay and bay tour (B)

This morning you will have free time to spend on your own. We highly recommend a visit to Tortuga Bay beach. This white sand beach gets its name from the sea turtles that lay their eggs here. Many marine iguanas, crabs, and birds can also be seen here. The site is excellent for bird watching and a relaxing bath. It takes about an hour to walk from the main port on the boulevard of Puerto Ayora to reach Tortuga Bay.

In the afternoon, you will take a tour of the bay that will last 4 hours where you will take a tour of the most important points of the academy bay of Puerto Ayora that ends around 6:00 p.m. to return on your own to the hotel located 5 minutes from the pier of passengers.
