Prices are subject to change. A deposit is always required to confirm a reservation. A Deposit of $700pp, plus insurance premium (if selected) is due upon registration to confirm your reservation. We will depart from Logan Airport early this morning to catch our flight westward to Rapid City, South Dakota allowing us time for a tour of the city. We’ll discover why Rapid City is known as the “City of Presidents” as we view the many Presidential Statues, Memorial Park and more. Lunch is on our own. Dinner this evening is included. (D)
Enjoy Breakfast at the hotel this morning. Following breakfast we depart via Motor Coach for a day of touring. Included today: The Borglum Historical Center. We’ll discover Gutzon Borglum, artist and extraordinary individual, as we delve into the mind, life and historical events of the man who at age 60 began carving Mt. Rushmore, a Shrine of Democracy. Mount Rushmore National Memorial -- Carved by Borglum high up among the clouds to signify the principles and ideals of America, the four presidents commemorated here contributed to the essence of democracy held sacred in the Constitution of the United States of America. Simply breathtaking and awe-inspiring. Lunch today is an all-you-can-eat buffet at Heritage Village. Next, its on to Crazy Horse Memorial, the world’s largest mountain sculpture still in progress. Sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski started the Memorial in 1948 to honor the culture, tradition and living heritage of North American Indians. Eight of his children continue his work today. As we make our way back towards Rapid City, we’ll travel through Custer State Park, one of America’s premiere preserves (buffalo herds) and Needles Highway a magnificent scenic mountain road winding through the imposing landscapes of the central Black Hills. With bizarre rock pinnacles and the fairytale Sylvan Lake, spectacular views abound and the drive-through tunnels create a memorable experience. Dinner this evening is included. After dinner we return to Mt. Rushmore for a fabulous nighttime view of the Presidents! (B,L, D)
Enjoy Breakfast at the hotel. We depart for touring beginning with the breathtaking Loop Drive of the forbidding landscape of Badlands National Park. With ragged ridges, chiseled spires and deep canyons ravaged by eons of wind and rain, the badlands seem eerily unwordly. Despite the extreme weather and desert-like wilderness, the park is home to an array of wildlife, from herds of free-roaming bison and antelope, to big horn sheep, swift fox and the black-footed ferret, the most endangered land mammal in North America. This is some of the most remarkable landscape in the world and we will make stops including the Visitor Center for incredible picture taking opportunities. Lunch today , on our own, is in the small town of Wall (population 800). Expect a hearty welcome as it is also home of the world’s most famous drug store. Tonight enjoy our included Fort Hays Chuckwaggon Show. (B,D)
After Breakfast we for the wonderful scenery of Montana. Along the way we will stop at Littl Bighorn Battlefield. This area memorializes the U.S. Army’s 7th Cavalry and the Sioux and Cheyenne in one of the Indian’s last armed efforts to preserve their way of life. Here on June 25 and 26 of 1876, 263 soldiers, including Lt. Col. George A. Custer and attached personnel of the U.S. Army, died fighting several thousand Lakota, and Cheyenne warriors. Then it’s onto downtown Billings Montana where we’ll enjoy our included lunch and see one of the local breweries that Montana has become known for. We then head to the highly acclaimed resort of Big Sky, Montana. We’ll check into our resort hotel and settle in before our included dinner this evening. Then sit back and relax, taking in the fresh, clean, mountain air of Montana. At a base elevation of 7,500 ft above sea level we’re in a whole different world! (D)
Wake up this morning refreshed and ready to begin an adventurous day. Enjoy your included breakfast to get the day started off right. After breakfast we head off for our whitewater rafting adventure. This fantastic three hour adventure is a thrill of a lifetime. Not sure how exciting or wet you want to get, no problem. Our scenic float tour offers a gentle ride gliding through the shadows of Lone Mountain, meandering through the upper canyon of the Gallatin River where we may even come upon deer, elk, moose, or a bear. For those with a more adventurous spirit some true whitewater rafting is available for a few good soakings as we plunge through some of the famous rapids. Don’t worry you can always exit the river at any point during the trip as vehicles follow us the whole way down the river. Enjoy some lunch on our own today before we begin with our second adventure...the Lone Peak Expedition. Our tour includes the lower loop tour encapsulating the most impressive thermal features including the famous Old Faithful, Firehole Falls, the Upper and Lower Geyser Basins, the Upper Falls and South Rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Wolves, elk, moose, bears, mountain lions, bighorn sheep, deer and bison are just a few of the many animals that call Yellowstone National Park home. Are you a golfer?
