Together, we will face the truth of our nation's history of anti-Black racial terror and violence, self reflect on the ways each of us have upheld and perpetuated white supremacy in our lives, and embrace our ability to affect change and dismantle racism, first within ourselves, and then in our families and communities.
Our purpose is to listen to and learn from Black leadership, utilize antiracism tools and resources to strategize ways to do less harm, be better co-conspirators to Black people and other marginalized communities of the global majority, and develop ways to move forward with mindful action toward collective liberation.
Once registered, participants will receive soul assignments, which is basically pre-work (books, podcasts, documentaries, etc) to help them get started on building a solid foundation for their personal anti-racism journey.
This anti-racism weekend includes visits to: The National Memorial For Peace and Justice, The Legacy Museum: From Enslavement to Mass Incarceration, Legacy Sites, and the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma.
We invite you to engage in this transformational experience as we delve into these courageous conversations with trip facilitators Tony Nabors of Racial Equity Insights, and Legacy Trips founder, Tina Strawn.
Tony Nabors (he/him) is the Owner and Principal Consultant of Racial Equity Insights. In his former position, he was also the first person to ever hold the title of “Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” in the United States for a public housing authority. With over 20 years of experience working in diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI), justice, and advocacy work, Tony is passionate about moving people and organizations from hesitation and trepidation to confidence and effectiveness in their commitments to advancing racial equity.
Tony's skills include anti-racism training, consulting, strategy development, public speaking, team leadership, group facilitation and program management. He is a strong communicator and very intentional in communicating these challenging subjects in a way where everyone, from beginners to veterans in anti-racism education, will remain engaged and eager to participate. Tony also loves audio/visual media and incorporates video and photography to amplify the effectiveness and reach of his anti-racism work.
Over the past year, Tony has provided services for healthcare providers and insurers, housing nonprofits, colleges, music and arts organizations, international fundraising/outreach nonprofits, mental health support organizations, and technology firms, to name a few clients.
