About your trip

Together, we will face the truth of our nation's history of racial terror and violence, self reflect on the ways each of us have upheld and perpetuated white supremacy in our lives, and embrace our ability to affect change and dismantle racism, first within ourselves, and then in our families and communities.

Our purpose is to listen to and learn from Black leadership, utilize antiracism tools, resources and yoga philosophy to strategize ways to do less harm, be better co-conspirators to BIPOC and develop ways to move forward with mindful action toward collective liberation.

Once registered, participants will receive soul assignments, which is basically pre-work (books, podcasts, documentaries, etc) to help them get started on building a solid foundation for their personal anti-racism journey.

We invite you to participate in this transformational experience as we delve into these courageous conversations with Lettie Shumate, who will be the facilitator of the trip, and Rebeckah Borucki who will be leading the meditation sessions.

Lettie Shumate is a Black woman, historian, antiracism educator, and facilitator in Southeastern North Carolina. She is the host of her podcast, “History Shows Us”, where she educates about history and bridges the past to the present, she discusses racial and social issues, and she doesn’t hold back the truth with hard topics and tough conversations.

Lettie received her MA in History in 2015 where she focused on American history and specialized in Black history and race studies. She also received her MA in Conflict Management & Resolution in May 2020.

Lettie is involved with projects in her local community, one of which is through the Equal Justice Initiative, she serves on two boards, leads workshops, and has been in news stories and articles.
