About your trip

Thank you for your interest in Sarga Bodywork! Please be sure to read all of the information listed here. It is especially important for you to click on the blue "READ MORE" button at the end of each section. The important details of this course are available there, including student requirements, course policies, payment plans, etc.

This course is a special retreat-style gathering for Sarga 101 in Belfast, Maine! Join TWO veteran Sarga Bodywork instructors, Arielle Ferrell and me, for 5 days in a gorgeous and peaceful location for learning. 7 students can register with me, and 7 students can register with Arielle, for a maximum of 14 students.

Why 5 days instead of our usual 4 days for Sarga 101? So we can do a half day on day one, and include a 2-hour sunset cruise that evening! ⛵️ It also gives us a more relaxed learning flow, and students will have more time to explore the local area on other days.

Our host venue, the Fireside Inn & Suites, offers views of Penobscot Bay from every room, beach access, and an indoor pool and sauna. It is also just a 5-minute drive to downtown Belfast, where you can visit all the local shops, restaurants, and walk along the harbor path, saying hello to the local loons (the birds, not the people! 😂 ) Arielle and I have reserved a room block for students at 10% off. When you call the inn to book your room, just mention the Sarga 101 course to receive the discounted rate. Please note: You do NOT have to stay at the inn in order to attend this course.

Lastly, this is a HYBRID raised-table/ floor course. There will be a maximum of 7 workspaces. We will have 4 raised tables, and 2 floor set ups. The 7th workspace can be floor or table, to be determined by the students' preference.

SARGA BODYWORK® is a barefoot massage method that employs the use of a fabric strap fastened to a massage table to deliver therapeutic myofascial and deep tissue techniques. This length of fabric is used by practitioners for stability and to add tensional and gravitational force to specific manual therapy methods. These methods, applied with the broad contact surfaces of the feet facilitate less restriction and more ease and relaxation in recipients’ bodies.

Before You Book:

Please confirm that you meet our requirements.

For this in-person course, the following requirements apply:

- Must have at least 1 year of manual therapy experience.

- Must meet your state/country's massage licensure requirements.

- Must have current liability/malpractice insurance in the state/country where you practice. No exceptions.

- Fitness level is especially important for Sarga Bodywork practice on raised massage tables. Sarga Bodywork is an advanced barefoot massage modality that requires an exceptional degree of focus, patience, physical fitness, and bodywork experience in order to master it. Student weight and fitness as it relates to classroom safety and the capacities treatment equipment used in the classroom:

Sarga Bodywork understands that weight alone does not determine fitness, balance, or capability. However, for safety reasons, we ask that you inform us if you are outside of the biometrics listed below. We will inquire further to ensure that the techniques taught in our courses can be performed safely and within the working limits of our equipment. This is highly important since the Sarga Silk allows practitioners to generate additional force beyond bodyweight. Please note that being outside of these biometrics does not necessarily exclude you from our course offerings! If you would like to discuss these options, please contact me at lisa@sargabodywork.com.

  • Registering for a course on raised massage tables: Students verify they are not less than 100lbs in weight, not more than 175lbs in weight, and not more than 6' in height. Students must understand the importance of their honesty as it relates to safety and liability in this regard. Failure to disclose this information may result in needing to make equipment and/ or technique modifications during class, and may even result in dismissal without a refund if classroom safety is compromised.

  • Registering for a course on floor-based massage tables or massage mats: Students verify they are not less than 100lbs in weight, not more than 225lbs in weight, and not more than 6' in height. Students must understand the importance of their honesty as it relates to safety and liability in this regard. Failure to disclose this information may result in needing to make equipment and/ or technique modifications during class, and may even result in dismissal without a refund if classroom safety is compromised.

  • Students outside the biometrics listed above: Please contact us to discuss other options for learning Sarga Bodywork.

Fitness requirements to successfully learn & perform Sarga Bodywork:
