Join Rock Light Photo for an exciting and rewarding six-day, five-night exploration of the unique mountain landscapes of Glacier National Park in Montana, while based in nearly impossible to get national park lodging at the historic Swiftcurrent Motor Inn in the Many Glacier area.
You and fellow photographers will explore glacier carved mountains and valleys, impossibly blue-green glacial lakes, waterfalls, wildflowers, and wildlife. Our fantastic lodging location saves hours of driving time, near the trailhead to some great hikes, including the famed Grinnell Glacier & Grinnell Lake Hikes, and within walking distance of Swiftcurrent Lake & Lake Josephine.
Our photographic subjects will include, but not be limited to: waterfalls, glacial lakes, wildflowers, wildlife, sunrises, sunsets, gorges and glaciers! Yes, there are still glaciers in the park, but they will not be there for too many more years, so take this opportunity to see them before they are gone for good.
We will end the workshop with a group slide show and supportive critique. You'll learn from and be surprised by what images your fellow photographers come up with at the same locations, and that's part of the fun!

The Many Glacier/Swiftcurrent area of Glacier National Park is quite a ways from civilization, including any commercial hotels/motels & rental properties. Since the days will be long (almost 16 hours in mid July), we have decided that the best way to maximize our time in the field is to stay in the park, right at the trailheads, where the action is, at the Swiftcurrent Motor Lodge!
Rooms at both the Swiftcurrent Motor Lodge and Many Glacier Hotel sell out 13 months in advance, in a matter of hours! Colin burned some serious midnight oil, and 'overcame significant booking challenges' to secure these great rooms!
Swiftcurrent Motor Inn & Cabins
Gateway to many of Glacier's most spectacular trails, Swiftcurrent Motor Inn & Cabins is located just one mile from the Many Glacier Hotel in a hikers paradise. There are 95 rustic cabin and motor inn rooms, a restaurant, fully stocked campstore and gift shop.

Different package options for hotel rooms at the Swiftcurrent Motor Lodge, inside Glacier National Park
Round trip reservations on the two-boat, two lake tour on Swiftcurrent Lake & Lake Josephine to shorten our hike to Grinnell Lake or Grinnell Glacier.
Two licensed, insured, experienced national park photography guides, who can get us around all those pesky timed entry permit restrictions!
We will be carpooling to those few locations where we cannot hike from the Inn.
While we will eat a couple of meals together, meal costs are not part of the workshop reservation.
The closest airports to the Many Glacier area are Kalispell, MT (FCA), or Great Falls, MT (GTF), both around 2.5-3 hours drive.
Once most people have booked, we will see if it makes sense to offer a shuttle from one airport or the other. Contact us if that would be of interest, or perhaps sharing a car rental.
