I am SO excited to invite you to our second Crochet Retreat held at our beautiful retreat venue in Devon. It's perfect for beginners and improvers...or if you'd just like some time away at a beautiful venue to rest, relax and crochet.
We had a fabulous time at our last crochet retreat. Some ladies were complete beginners and were taught all the basics, eventually managing to make a few granny squares. Others were taught mosaic crochet and others bought patterns that they were struggling with.
Our teacher, Rosie from Happy Devon Crochet was taught to crochet by her grandmother and is now a complete yarn/crochet addict/expert. She teaches at various venues in Devon, sells kits and is currently beginning to write her own patterns.
If you are a complete beginner do not fear, Rosie will be on hand to guide you expertly from yarn handling and hook holding and then on to basic stitches, granny squares and more.
You may already have some knowledge of crochet and have mastered the basics but we'd love to have you share the weekend with us too. We'd love to be able to help you improve and add to your repertoire. Perhaps you have a pattern you are keen to start but would like help in reading the pattern, learning new stitches..or just have someone give you the confidence to get going! Or just come and enjoy a weekend indulging in your favourite therapeutic activity..crocheting.

Day 1 - arrival
Arrive any time from 4pm and receive a warm welcome, a cup of tea and some cake. This is a great time to get to know your fellow retreatees, make yourself at home, settle into your room, bag your space in the sewing room and ……breathe…..!
At 6pm we have a ‘Welcome to the retreat” glass of bubbly and some canapes in the sitting room in front of the roaring log fire..this is just the start! We then gather in the dining room for a delicious home cooked supper. What happens next is up to you. You can head for a squishy sofa in the sitting room in front of the fire, have a dip in the hot tub, start sewing or just retire to bed.
Day 2 - morning
Help yourself to a morning cuppa, lie in or head out for an early morning walk by the river. A yummy breakfast of home made bread and jam, yoghurt, cereals, croissants, fruit salad awaits you from 8.30am. And then it’s time to start your crochet sessions! The morning is punctuated with tea/coffee and cake and then more delicious homemade food at lunchtime!
In the afternoon we continue with our crochet fun, with little mini workshops of various tricky techniques dotted in along the way.
You are welcome to stay in the studio for as long as you like.
Dinner is served at 7pm… a 3 course meal…and then it’s hot tub, sofa, crocheting or bed time!
After breakfast it’s back to the studio to carry on with your projects, chatter and have fun! The days just seem to speed by.
In the afternoon we like to stop for a cuppa and a mini cream tea in the sitting room – a time to catch up with everyone. Then back to frantic crocheting to complete those projects that you were hoping to finish!
Our evening meal on the last day is always rather special…friendships have been forged, memories made, lots of laughter shared and it’s wonderful to celebrate that on our last evening together.
Home time
A somewhat sadder morning as we gather our things and say goodbye to everyone. For those who have the whole day to spare there is the opportunity to pop into Dartmouth or have a trip into Totnes for the unique independent shops and a spot of fabric shopping.
Don’t be too sad…there will always be another retreat…..!
