Embark on a guided day hike up a glacially scoured canyon of the Bitterroot Mountains to a pristine backcountry lake. The trails feature incredible mountain scenery with granite cliffs along steep canyon walls and valleys lined with ice-cold cascading snowmelt! The guide and guests will carry ultralight, inflatable packrafts which will be used to float on the lake.
During the hike, the guide will identify dozens of native plants and animals and will teach
participants about the geologic forces that created the mountains and alpine lakes. Additionally,
guests will learn about modern Leave No Trace principles and how to recreate sustainably.
The guide provides all essential gear like backpacks, full packraft setup, and first aid, but will
also provide snacks like beef jerky, various clean label protein bars, and fruit leather! The guide
will also carry two packraft setups and all other essential gear items.
While guests float, the guide will prepare hot tea, coffee, or hot chocolate or cold beverages
(depending on the weather.) Guests should expect to prepare with the appropriate clothing. Temperatures at the lake can be 10 - 15 degrees F less than in Hamilton or Missoula.
