About your trip

The aim of this tour is for you to enjoy the Teotihuacan pyramids while also supporting the local economy and enjoying an authentic, homemade lunch cooked by locals at their home. The tour is designed for your money to stay in the community.

We'll go on public transport to the North Bus station in Mexico City. We'll take a public bus to Teotihuacan and once there, you will be introduced to your local guide who will explain the history of the pyramids.

You'll be taken to an obsidian workshop run by a local family. You will get to try their homemade pulque among other local delicacies such as marmalade and homemade salsa.

After having sipped mezcal, tequila & pulque, we will visit another family-run project: we will go to a local's house and have a vegan/veggie homemade lunch that consists of agua fresca and traditional Mexican dishes such as tlacoyos, arroz & much more.

Hop on the tram and head over to the North Bus station

We will meet in Historical Downtown. After giving a brief introduction, you and your leader will hop on the tram and travel to the North Bus Station. From here, you'll take the bus to the Teotihuacan pyramids.

Explore this archeological site and get a thorough explanation

After your approximately 2 hour bus ride, you'll arrive at the Piramides de Teotihuacan. Your leader with introduce your specialized guide and leave you to enter and explore the archeological site. After about 1.5 hours, you'll wrap up your visit and prepare for the next stop

Obsidian Workshop

Learn about obsidian. Taste home-brewed pulque.

Visit a family-run obsidian workshop and learn about the millenary technique of obsidian production. Take part in a delicious tasting of mezcal, tequila, xoconostle marmalades and home-brewed pulque.

Learn everything about Xoconostle (pink prickly pear)

Xoconostle is the prickly pear that grows from cactus. It is an ancestral fruit that has been consumed since time immemorial. This project will show you how Xoconostle can be turned into candy, liquor, chips and so much more.

Enjoy a homemade and authentic Mexican lunch

After exploring the pyramids and learning about the local way of life, we will visit the home of a local Teotihuacan family where you will be treated to a homemade lunch. Depending on what the matriarch of the family decides to cook, you will taste tlacoyos, arroz rojo, nopales, enchiladas, tamales, mixiotes de setas or flautas ahogadas. Thirsty? Try the agua fresca!
After lunch, we will take the bus back to Mexico City.
