Photograph Pacific Gray whales in Magdalena Bay and NE Pacific Blue whales in Loreto Bay, with chances to see dolphins, sea lions, and other marine mammals in their natural habitats. From January to March, snorkel alongside gentle whale sharks in La Paz and swim with playful California sea lions at the protected Espiritu Island Archipelago.
Step back in time visiting Misión San Francisco Javier de Viggé-Biaundó, part of Baja’s historic Spanish mission network, and explore 7,000-year-old cave paintings and petroglyphs in the Sierra de la Giganta mountains, accessed by mule for a truly authentic experience.
Baja is also a world-class birdwatching destination, offering encounters with seabirds, raptors, desert songbirds, and migratory species throughout every activity. This expedition is ideal for travelers with a novice to moderate activity level. Participants should be comfortable walking or standing for short periods, enjoying moderate hikes of 1–2 hours, and engaging in multiple hours of activity on select days. The journey combines educational, cultural, and wildlife-viewing experiences.
Hikes typically range from 1 to 1.5 hours (1–1.5 miles) on uneven terrain at low elevations, often in warm and humid conditions. All excursions are optional—guests are free to relax or skip any activity at their discretion.
Camp San Dionisio by Panterra
Nestled in the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains south of La Paz, Camp San Dionisio offers a glamping experience that blends comfort and nature. Spacious walk-in tents (4–6 m) feature memory foam beds, full bedding, and towels. Guests share rustic-style bathrooms and showers, enjoying all the essential comforts of home—no crawling into tents or sleeping on the ground!
