Join us for an otherworldly volunteer adventure in the Amazon of Peru!
Led by seasoned traveler Calen Otto and hosted by Amozonas, this unruly group trip will take 6 - 13 participants on a hands-on journey where they'll immerse themself in jungle living and Indigenous culture.
Starting in Cusco, travelers will spend a night in the bustling city bonding over a local vegan meal before heading out to the lush Amazon. There we'll spend the days taking care of rescued animals, managing & protecting wildlife areas, volunteering with the local Indigenous community, playing, swimming, hiking, and exploring. When our time in the wild has come to an end, we'll come back to Cusco to spend a day in the city together.
This trip will encourage community-building, human & nonhuman connection, cultural immersion, play, joy, and eco-minded adventure.

This trip can be paid for upfront or in 3 installments. At least 25% of full trip price is due upfront. The last payment is due 2 months before the trip start date.

After confirming your spot a packing and trip recommendation list (that includes resources for travel insurance & how to find cheap flights) will be sent to you. You will be required to sign a liability waiver before attending this trip which will also be delivered after sign-up.
Lodging for 10 nights: 3 in Cusco + 7 nights shared volunteer accommodation at Amozons
3 100% plant-based meals a day, excluding arrival and take-off days & lunch in Cusco on final day
All extra adventure activities at Amozonas are covered in the price of this trip.
All transportation to and from destinations & activities is included on this trip, minus flights to and from Cusco.
Participants are responsible for booking their flights in and out of Cusco.
Participants are responsible for booking their own travel health insurance. Trip leader will give suggestions on insurance provider.
Participates will have opportunity to purchase bottled water, gifts, souvenirs, and snacks along the way. Any extra spending is up to them.
Participants may be required to purchase mud boots once in the Amazon. $10 USD.
On our last full day in Cusco lunch will not be provided.
We will arrive to Cusco and make our way from the airport to our accommodation in town. We'll have our first shared dinner together at a vegan restaurant and get our first taste of Peru.
After breakfast we'lll take the 5 hour van trip from Cusco to a more rural part of the Amazon where we will volunteer for the week with Amozonas. There we will have an introduction to the project, fill out paperwork, and have dinner together.
We will have breakfast at the market before moving into the jungle cabins at Hummingbird Park. Once settled, we'll be introduced to the animals at the sanctuary before having lunch. After our bellies are full it's time to hit the trails and learn about the pats at Humming Park before closing the day out over dinner.
We'll get our day started with breakfast at the park before working at the animal sanctuary. We'll break for lunch mid-day before possibly continuing with light work at the park before dinner.
We'll have breakfast before departing for the Indigenous community where we'll do landscape work, care for the dogs, play with the children, and other tasks. We'll visit the artisanal market before having lunch together and taking a dip in the community river bath. Dinner will be back home at Hummingbird Park.
After breakfast we'll have a free day where the group will decide if they'd like to spend more time with the animals, rest, or go on another jungle adventure. After lunch we'll visit the biological research station before returning to the park for dinner.
After breakfast at the park we'll set out to the conservation area for GPS and path clearing work. Lunch will be brought and we'll be rewarded with a refreshing swim in the river. We'll continue our reforestation work before heading home and having dinner at the park.
During this free day all meals will be provided, either packed or at the park. The group will decide what to do this day. Options included a visit to the archeological site, boat trips, and more.
We'll enjoy our last breakfast at Amozonas before heading back to Cusco. Dinner in Cusco.
We'll wake up in Cusco and guests will explore the city for a free day. Trip leader will recommend activities but it's up to the group to decide the schedule for the day. We'll have our final dinner together in the city. (Lunch will be up to participants that day and will not be included in price trip.)
Breakfast will be provided before participants disburse or depart for the Cusco airport.
