Designed With You in Mind

This five nights retreat is specially curated so that you can slow down, reconnect with your body, and return home rested, clear, and nourished.

You will enjoy:

  • Deep rest without planning anything

  • Safe, supportive environment

  • Balance of structure (yoga) and freedom (activities, rest)

  • Small group, personal experience

  • No hidden costs, everything is included: transfers, food, accommodation, yoga, daily activities

  • We know that flexibility, comfort, and personal attention matter.

Every day is balanced — a little yoga, a little adventure, plenty of time to rest or read by the river.

You’ll never feel rushed or out of place — just gently guided, supported, and inspired.

Accommodation

You will stay either in the village hotel or in a cosy cottage, Casa Arabella. There are 16 en-suite double rooms, and triples, all with A/C. The rooms were refurbished last year and most have stunning river views. There are 2 terraces to enjoy & it's only a 5 minute walk to the riverside. Single room occupancy option is available with a small supplement.

Traveling to the retreat

How to I get to the retreat from Madrid?

We are one of the most accessible rural retreats in Europe. The airport is just one hour from our retreat village Zorita de los Canes. All the low cost airlines operate dozens of flights a day . The two Madrid main train stations , Atocha and Chamartín are only a 15 minute taxi ride to the retreat pick up point in the centre of the city .

A shuttle service is included from the airport for all our guests. The journey to the village is just over 1 hour.

Collaboration with a village resident

This retreat is a collaboration with local village resident Ian Hassell, founder of the experience and one of the retreat instructors. For over five years, Ian has been welcoming visitors to his village through one of Spain’s highest-rated experiences, Unspoiled Spain for Foodies & Nature Lovers.

Yoga sessions will be led by me (Sangeeta), Founder of San Yoga , to bring my established teaching style of hatha yoga and yin yoga into this unique rural setting, while Ian connects guests with the land, people, food, and traditions of the village.

At its heart, this retreat is built on sustainable tourism. Rural Spain faces depopulation, limited employment opportunities, and an aging infrastructure. By joining this retreat, your presence directly supports local people, local produce, and the preservation of village life.

This is a retreat with purpose - nourishing for you, and meaningful for the place that hosts it.

About me

The COVID-19 pandemic, despite its global and deeply devastating impact on so many people, also offered me a moment of pause. It encouraged reflection and guided me toward a totally different direction -one that allows me to do more of what I truly love while supporting wellness and better health within the community.

Following burnout from a long and demanding career, I made a significant shift in July 2020. After more than 25 years working as a Clinical Scientist Director in the pharmaceutical industry, developing new medicines, I chose to retrain as a yoga teacher. I qualified as a 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) practitioner, certified by Yoga Alliance Professionals (YAP, UK) in January 2022, and I am currently completing an advanced 500-hour YTT in remedial yoga.

Yoga has been part of my daily practice for over two decades, and becoming a Hatha yoga instructor and leading retreats has been an aspiration of mine for many years. When I made the decision to step away from corporate life, I was met with the welcome realisation that I could finally follow my passion, spending my days practising, studying, and sharing a tradition that promotes physical health, mind–body harmony, and spiritual well-being. The essence of my scientific background in discovering and developing medicines still flows through my work, the medicine I now share is yoga for cultivating health of the body, mind, and spirit.

Sharing and teaching yoga as a pathway to self-care, self-discovery, and awareness, and witnessing its positive impact on overall health, now lie at the heart of my job description. I have been teaching Hatha and Yin yoga locally for the past four years and have had the privilege of leading five retreats across the UK, Spain, and India over the past three years. As a dedicated practitioner, yoga is where I find a deep and rewarding sense of purpose, guiding others while continually learning and growing myself.

In 2026, I plan to host two retreats: this one in Spain, followed by another in October in Kerala, India. It would be an honour to have you join me for one or both of these experiences.

About your organizer

My background is in Medicine Development but the ethics, values and practice of yoga had been pulling on me for many years. Now, I am grateful to be able to combine my long-standing passion with my profession, as I now teach yoga and host retreats. Bringing others along on this discovery journey of yoga as a wellness medicine for preventing conditions like anxiety, back pain, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, dementia, and such brings me a deep sense of purpose.
