Experience the charming town of Antigua as we dive into its rich history and vibrant culture. Start the day with a guided walking tour through the cobblestone streets, colorful colonial buildings, and centuries-old ruins that tell the story of this UNESCO World Heritage city.
Afterward, we’ll enjoy a fresh, farm-to-table lunch at Caoba Farms, a local favorite. In the afternoon, hop on bikes for a scenic ride to a nearby coffee farm, where you'll learn the art of Guatemalan coffee production from bean to brew. We'll end the day relaxing at the charming Hotel Casa Antigua, nestled in the heart of town.
Immerse yourself in the beauty of Mayan tradition during this unforgettable day in Antigua. We’ll begin with a hands-on textile workshop with Luna Zorra, where you’ll discover the ancient art of natural plant dyes and Mayan weaving and walk away with a beautiful apron!
Then, we’ll gather for a private luncheon and transformational guided meditation at a serene location. Then the rest of the afternoon is yours to wander, shop, and soak in the charm of Antigua at your own pace!
Embark on a BUCKETLIST adventure—an overnight trek up Volcán Acatenango, where you'll witness the raw power of nature and sleep under a blanket of stars. This challenging, but rewarding hike covers approximately 12 miles round-trip with an altitude gain of over 5,000 feet, culminating at a breathtaking summit elevation of 13,045 feet (3,976 meters).
As we ascend through farmlands, cloud forests, and alpine terrain, you'll be met with sweeping views and the thrilling sight (and sound!) of nearby Volcán Fuego, which frequently erupts (about every 15-20 minutes!). After watching the sunset from the top of Acatenango, we will camp just below the summit, with perfect views of Fuego in front of us.
Cozy, comfortable gear and warm meals will provided by local guides. For those who prefer a less strenuous climb, horseback assistance is available for an additional fee.
Whether on foot or horseback, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will push your limits, but leave you with the ultimate reward--absolute awe of the earth’s wild and raw beauty. This hike is beyond EPIC and will likely be the highlight of your trip in Guatemala!
We will conclude our overnight hike to Acatenango by noon, and then head to Lake Atitlan. Nestled in the Guatemalan highlands just 2.5 hours from Antigua, Lake Atitlán is a breathtaking crater lake surrounded by volcanoes and vibrant Mayan villages.
Often called one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, it’s a place where nature, culture, and serenity collide—offering stunning views, rich traditions, and a peaceful escape. Upon arrival to Hotel San Buenaventura de Atitlan, we will have time to relax by the pool and take in the views of the lake and surrounding volcanoes.
Start your day with magic as we embark on a short hike to the summit of Indian Nose in the pre-dawn hours, arriving just in time to witness the sunrise over Lake Atitlán and its surrounding volcanoes—a truly unforgettable moment.
At the top, we’ll pause for a transformational guided meditation, grounding ourselves in the beauty and energy of this sacred place. Afterward, we will spend the day exploring the lake’s vibrant Mayan villages by boat, discovering rich traditions, local artisans, and the colorful spirit that makes this region so special.
Step back in time with a visit to Chichicastenango, home to one of the largest and most vibrant markets in all of Latin America. This highland town comes alive with local vendors, handwoven textiles, ceramics, and traditional crafts, offering a true glimpse into indigenous life and artistry (this town is 95% Mayan descent!). Chichicastenango is a place where traditional language, dress, customs, and spiritual practices are still widely preserved and practiced today.
Wander through the bustling stalls, savor local street food, and witness sacred rituals blending ancient Mayan beliefs with Catholic traditions at the iconic Santo Tomás Church. This is a day full of cultural immersion, sensory delights, and meaningful connection to Guatemala’s rich heritage. And lots of AMAZING SHOPPING!
On the final day, we will leave Lake Atitlan and head back to Guatemala City (a 2 hour drive).
*For those doing the optional 2 day add-on, once in Guatemala City we will take a short, domestic flight to Flores, and then head to the Jungle Lodge Tikal Hotel, a beautiful hotel inside the jungle just outside of Tikal.
Begin your day with the magic of a Tikal sunrise, as the jungle slowly awakens with the sounds of howler monkeys and tropical birds echoing through the forest. We’ll explore the ancient Mayan city of Tikal with a guide in the quiet of the morning, climbing towering temples and wandering through majestic ruins that once formed one of the most powerful kingdoms in Mesoamerica.
After a morning of exploration, we’ll return to Jungle Lodge Tikal to relax, unwind by the pool, and soak in the peaceful rhythm of the surrounding rainforest.
In the morning we will head to Flores and catch a flight back to Guatemala City, where you can plan your departure flight for the afternoon/early evening.
